What is everything one would need for this type of operation.

I currently have:

Computer (Windows XP, 40GB HDD, and its a compaq Anything else I couldn't tell you).
32" Panasonic LCD TV

I assume I need a card or something and some cords.

Any advice and experience is appreciated.

I am a flat screen TV newbie so dumb it down for me.

Thank you.

If your TV has the "monitor" plug on the back of it (the one that you see coming out of your normal monitor), you can just use that.

Graphics Cards often have DVI outputs on them now, which will give you better quality... plus they'll have a driver suite that will give you better resolutions for that size of a display.

Really, just look at your computer and look at the TV and see if you have the same plugs.

Assuming your LCD TV doesn't have a DVI-in or VGA-in, get two cords:

DVI (or vga) to HDMI (assuming your LCD TV does HDMI):
    http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10231&cs_id=1023104&p_id=2404&seq=1&format=2

    3.5mm audio to RCA cable:
    http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10218&cs_id=1021804&p_id=665&seq=1&format=2

    1) Plug the first cable into your video card on the computer, and into an open HDMI port on the TV
    2) Plug the second cable into your Audio-out port on your sound card/motherboard, and plug it into the corresponding audio-in ports on your TV

The two cables should cost you around $10 by the time you factor in shipping.

If your TV does have DVI-In, then you don't need the first cord.

Oh, and as to the audio... I was assuming you'd still use your computer to produce the audio (as even most cheap speaker setups nowadays are better than built-in TV speakers).

If not, then yeah, you'll need audio hookup as well.
