Yeah, it actually looks like hard plastic in the pictures.
Manages to hold it's structure while at the same time not actually able to do that much damage upon impact. You'll know you've been hit though.

For close-quarters fighting it's a good gun, though.
i really like my shotgun. and my nerf assault rifle with a freakin magazine. never thought i would live to see that.
