Netbook Wireless Problem

Hey, so I have one of these, which comes equipped with an Atheros AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter, driver version 7.7.0.259.

Now, the wireless works fine in many places and times. I'm using it right now at a coffee shop, it works fine most places. But sometimes, in very inconvenient locations (in the lobby of my dorm, in one of my classrooms), I have a problem where I can see a network but I can't connect to it. I simply see the message (working from memory, as I don't have the problem here) "Waiting for network to respond".

Now, the odd thing is that this network is available to me, insofar as I can connect to it, in some places on campus but not others. In some of my classrooms, I can see and connect to the network (call it "MSU wi-fi 2.0") with no problems. In other places I cannot connect to this network though others can, so I suspect it's a problem on my end. Any idea what the deal might be? I've searched for updated drivers and it looks like there's a 7.7.0.329 version out there but I've had no luck finding a way for actually downloading it.

Please help!
