I had it in Hawaii this past May; slightly fruity is pretty much the only thing I can use to describe it. It's "dark", but not really. I wouldn't call it syrupy, Malkor. Anyway, it's hard for me to recommend it because it doesn't easily compare to anything else.
I'm going to try Sailor Jerry's sometime, but I don't think I've seen it anywhere.
I'm usually a wine drinker, but if I want a spirit is has to be Rye. Rum/Vodka make me ill just from smelling them (couple nights that were way too rough in my youth).
I usually mix rye with coke, 7up, or ginger ale but if I get a good bottle then I drink it straight. Mixing with distilled water is okay, but when you add ice you lose a lot of flavour.

Personally, I love me some rum straight up. But good ol' rum and coke is my mixer of choice, when I mix drinks. Also, whiskey and ginger ale is great.
It's not bad. Sailor Jerry's is way better, though.
There's another one I tried recently that's pretty good. I don't remember the name but it came in a coffin-shaped bottle.

Depends on how you make a screwdriver, mine is at least three shots of vodka+ice+oj to fill a liter stein. That tends to be a good for me.
