I ended up buying a new hard drive. This is for a samsung NC10 netbook.

Obviously the new HD has no info on it. I'm trying to boot windows 7 on a usb. I get a BOOTMGR missing error upon booting from the USB. I don't have an external drive to do a CD fix. Is there anyway I can fix this?

You have to set up the USB drive from another machine first.

This is a pretty good guide on how to set up a USB based WIn 7/Vista install:

    http://www.intowindows.com/how-to-install-windows-7vista-from-usb-drive-detailed-100-working-guide/

    This is the key:

    BOOTSECT.EXE/NT60 H:

That sets up the BOOTMGR on the H: drive.

Thanks. I did end up doing that I think, but I had to install XP first for some reason. Gah :P Thanks a lot mate. Hopefully this turns up in google for others having the same problem/without a cd drive.
