New Video Card, No Sound (Also, ATI fan question)

RaughnRaughn Registered User regular
Hello all.

After my 8800 GT crapped the bed, I ordered an ATI 3870 to replace it. I installed it this morning, which went well, but now I have no sound. Nothing from line out, nothing from a usb headset. The general Windows volume setting is fine.

Anyone know what might be the problem here? If it's relevant, my card is the Sapphire Radeon HD 3870 512MB 256-bit GDDR4, with a CG woman on the box that makes me embarassed for humanity.

Any help is appreciated.

Bonus question: Anyone know how I can use the "Catalyst" control center to tell the card to use the high fan setting all the time? I'd rather have it steadily loud vs. changing every three minutes.

Look in your sound options under control panel. The ATI card has built in sound for DVI/HDMI is was probably set as the default.
