My wife and I got our first HDTV a few years ago, and about a week ago, I noticed when you'd turn it on, there'd be a bit of a whine that I didn't notice before. A few days later, it'd take a few minutes from the time you pressed the power button to the time it actually turned on. The power light flashes green and red while it's starting, almost in a pattern, so I thought there might be some kind of error code, but I haven't been able to turn up anything like that. So, anyone know why the hell it's doing that, and more importantly, how I can fix it?
Plasma or LCD? The plasma i got for my parents does the same thing (But it doesnt take minutes, more like... 5-10 seconds), if i had to guess id say its the bulb heating up but i know sweet fuck all of how plasma tvs actually work.
DLP? Mine has a power saving mode, and when you turn it off, takes a considerable time to turn on (about a minute or so). With it off, almost instant.

Uh...my brother had a 37" polaroid that I fixed that would take forever to turn on. Turns out two capacitors in the power supply went bad. I guess it's a common problem with that model though. Perhaps ya go the same issue? You said it was s few years ago when you got it? This one's pretty old too. You know anything bout soldering and desoldering?
