[Solved] Photoshop unable to do... anything? - oh I'm an idiot

Uh, I'm experiencing a weird problem with Photoshop / ImageReady all of a sudden (v7.0). I can't use any tools at all on any images. All I get is a hand mouse icon that'll let me move around my viewing of the image. Trying to use the pencil / brush tool or selection tools... it just give me that crap. What the hell?

    hit spacebar. make sure caplock isn't on.
