DS lite shoulder button semi-responsive.

Pretty much exactly what it says on the tin.

Thing is, it's my brothers, and I've been using it a lot lately, and it went unresponsive on my watch.

So is there any home-remedy way of fixing it? Details:

It's a grey DS Lite, it's the left shoulder button. It only responds some of the time, and if I hold it down it doesn't recognize that I'm holding it down for very long.

I had this exact problem, same button. I found that if i used my fingernail to hold up the L button a little, I could blow into it and that would fix it for a few days. Eventually I just bought a DSi to upgrade.

Q-tips + rubbing alcohol. Get some in there and work the button. Keep working it in and it will eventually loosen up. Gunk gets in there (dead skin, dust, oil, etc.) and gums the button up.

Try this, easy and no risk:

Make a seal with your mouth over the button and blow. It fixed my button pretty well. Hopefully it's not too disgusting.

At the very worst you can get couple replacement shoulder buttons (<$3) and a new housing for ~$15 and solder on new buttons and replace the entire casing... that should fix it.

    Very worst.

It's been mentioned, but I can swear by the blow technique (form seal around the button with your lips, blow hard).

I used to just blow whenever the button stuck, and it would fix it for a little while. Eventually, my DS got to the point where the problem was completely fixed. This was maybe two years ago and the button's been working fine since.
