Alrighty, guys. Spawnbroker and I need your help. At the end of January, him and I will be taking a trip to the city, and we're looking to spend a night in a cheap (however not skeevy) hotel. I travel to the city several times a week, and I know my way around pretty well, I've just never had any experience with hotels...or like..what the decent ones are.
Spawnbroker says he'd like to get a hotel around midtown (near broadway, or whatevz) where there's lots to do, and our price range is 100-150(tops)a night. Even less than that would be sweet.

Last time I was in NYC, a friend and I stayed in a cool little hotel for about $50 a night, which was a steal. I'll see if I can find it... It was a few blocks below Columbus Circle if I remember right. Can't think of much more at the moment, but stranger things have happened.
Found it!
Goddamn, sometimes I 'scares myself! May I present, the Da Vinci Hotel.
Cool little place. Has a old-school Italian place under it with a nice bar. Near the subway too. If I were going back (and wasn't using an expense account!) I'd go there again in a heartbeat.
More Stuff... If you want to spend more for some reason, I can also recommend Hotel 41 - right in the heart of Times Square. Spent a night there, and it was OK. Not entirely worth the $200/night -- you're paying for location -- but it was pretty swank.
We stayed at the Milford Plaza for Comic Con. The room was small but clean, the bed was comfy and we could spit and hit Times Square but the hotel wasn't loud. We got it on Expedia and paid around $125/night and it was worth it.

I'm just waiting to see if there are any other suggestions.
