Click the analog stick at any point (during grapple, when they're at the floor) to do struggle submissions.
Ah, thanks.
As for Inferno, they don't tell you, but it's just like any animation trigger in the game. Grapple a guy near the fire or move him near the fire, and then watch.
Yeah, I did all that, but it wasn't a STRONG grapple, which I'd completely forgotten about, so that kind of prolonged things.

"This exchange" is censored for almost being "thi sex change."
It's not too bad. I need to edit some of my dialog anyway, a lot of it I forgot to revise. But now I'll approach writing it from the point of view that almost every other word is naughty in some way and avoid the filters.
Want to know what's stupid?
in Halo, "Big Team Slayer" gets censored.. but that's what Bungie names it, so if you save the gametype after playing it, the Xbox yells at you and blanks it.
I seriously cannot figure out where there's anything wrong in that phrase.
Just finished the final touches on the first chapter of my created story. It's called New Era of Wrestling, Chapter One: FIRST STRIKE. It's fun and humorous. Reviews on Gamefaqs have been good so far. Please download and have a look. Tags are: [stevo22] [era] [story]. Enjoy.
Is this an updated version of what you already released then?
I'll have to download it.
It's basically the polished, final version. Updated the matches to have a more realistic back and forth, harder difficulty, etc.
I have been thinking about picking this game up but I haven't played a wrestling game since SvR 2006.
What is the major difference between this and 2009? Except the fact that 09 is 40 cheaper used?
Create-a-Story, the ability to download people's created stuff completely, the ability to change the colors of the existing wrestlers, Championship Scramble and mixed tag matches added, the overall grapple and reversal systmes are tweaked a bit and improved, and the Royal Rumble got a major upgrade. Those are most of the changes I can think of.
I can't bring myself to give a fuck about Create-A-Story. I think I dabbled in it for 30 seconds before going "meh."
That's a shame. It's basically a way of providing free DLC that, given the right author, is better than it should be for free. Once you learn it's limitations and it's strengths, it's a lot easier to think in terms of "programming ease." For what it's worth I think you should tinker with it more, I'm having a blast with it.
Getting a lot of positive feedback. There's not a lot going on in the Create-A-Story mode but if you're creative with the tools you're given, a lot can be accomplished. I'm making Chapter 2 and it's coming out great.
So far, comments are: great writing, humorous, better story mode than WWE. All of which are very appreciated. I'm not sure if I should dumb down the difficulty or not, it seems to be set at a good place. If you still have a copy of this game, you should download New Era : Chapter 1 and let me know how awesome it is.
I just posted Chapter 1 to the SvR forums "Featured Content Monday." Fingers crossed I make it in.
I really do think it's one of the better user creations out there. I know everyone says that but I've had a look at my competition and it was fairly reassuring. If you have this game and you haven't checked it out yet, I implore you to do so.
I could use the feedback/criticism!!!! Really. Thanks guys.

Not sure if anyone still has this or is thinking about renting it, but what started as "playing around with the story designer" lead to authoring one of the best pieces of user content available for Smackdown vs Raw 2010. There are two chapters in my series and the third is on the way. Here's one users review:
"I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this is the best Story Designer content I've seen so far ... The SvR community does not give out enough compliments when praise is due, but Stevo's got himself a gem in the works here. I can't convey just how good this is..."
And someone left me a message on Xbox Live: "chap1 was killer! will play chap2 soon thank u 4 your brilliance!!!!"
The response is overwhelming. There's almost 200 downloads for it on Xbox Live so far. I grew up loving wrestling and it just seems to come natural to me. My dream job is to be a booker.
If you would, please take the time to check out the post I made on the IGN forums, just a peak should give you some idea of how seriously I've taken this.
So I rent this game to check it out and I'm curious: Am I supposed to 'lose' the match were Mickie James is Spanky's valet? I can spend minutes kicking the ever-loving crap out of Beth Phoenix but one little backdrop is enough to incapacitate James and Spanky loses. Is that how it's supposed to work or am I missing something 'obvious'?

Man Stevo, I can't believe I missed all this stuff.
I need to get this game from Gamefly sometime soon, and take a spin through the stuff you've created. I haven't even bothered with the Smackdown games the last couple years because they've gotten progressively more lame, but if the story creator really is this good, I definitely need to at least give it a shot.
In WWF No Mercy for the N64, one of the finishers was the Rios Driver, or something like that. Also called a flip up, or flip out DDT, something like that.
Essentially, the user puts himself in the powerbomb position, jumps up and pushes off the other guys legs, sits on his shoulders, then finangles his body to do a falling DDT.
Fat Doug, my created character from No Mercy, cannot be complete without this move, and I can't find it!
I recently started thinking about realistic wrestling games. You probably have no idea what I'm talking about. That's cool, we'll walk down this path together.
Wrestling's fake. Well, at least the wrestling that's portrayed in these wrestling games. Everyone knows this.
Video games are also fake. However, their fakeness is vastly different from the kind of fakeness in Wrestling. Video games are fake but can present a realism that's not possible in real life entertainment. Thus, wresting video games... they don't have to be fake in the same way as wrestling in real life. Yet, would people want that, or do they want fake realism in their wrestling games?
Just think about it. In real life, wrestlers don't actually punch each other. They pretend to punch each other, while stomping the ground with their foot to make the impact sound. Or they'll slam chairs into each other, but only hitting their meaty back, where they won't inflict any actual injuries to the other person. Instead of actually punching and drawing blood, the other guy simply hides a small razor until the opportune moment and then cuts himself with it. This is the sort of stuff that real fake wrestlers have to do in order to deliver their unique brand of entertainment.
Well, now let's look at video games. Wrestling video games don't have to worry about any of those limitations. They can actually animate wrestlers' ingame models punching each other and making contact, using chairs on any part of their opponent's body, etc. But then, that wouldn't be an authentic wrestling game, would it? It would be much less of a simulation of the "sport." So should the developers strive for realism in simulating the wrestling? Actually model a tiny razor blade in the character model's hands? Do you want to see the ingame player surreptitiously cut himself on the forehead during a match? Should the wrestler models actually be punching air and stomping with their feet in order to simulate an actual punch inside the game? That's a double fakeness, isn't it? It's the fake sport, actually being protrayed in an realism manner, inside a video game, which is fake. That's kinda mind boggling. I don't play any wrestling games, so I dunno how they deal with this in current games. But it's an intriguing concept.

I don't think so. Ideally, if the wrestlers play their parts well, you don't see the razor blade come out. While they may be pulling their punches, they shouldn't be doing so to such a degree that you can see air between their fist and the other guy's face. Some of it is camerawork, too, but in all...
So no, I don't think tricks of the trade really need attention drawn to them. It would be akin to suggesting that a Matrix or some sort of kung-fu video game show wires holding up the fighters.
I mean, if it's a parody or something, sure. But in a straight up game? Nah.

Has anyone tried this on the DS? I'm tempted because I'm a sucker for wrestling games, but I can't imagine that they'd be able to develop a reasonable control system given the limitations of the DS.
I have one question that I haven't seen answered so far; do I need a Gold XBL account to DL created stuff? And can I get user-created stuff from worldwide, or is it limited to my region?
Your characters are on two different save files, I'm willing to bet and it's only loading from the primary profile. I think you can copy characters from one save file to the next though.

I have. Honestly, the controls and gameplay really reminded me of the older N64-era games, like the WCW vs. nWo and WrestleMania 2000, minus the analog controls. It's been forever since I've played those titles, but it just reminded me of that.
