A foray into musical artistry

Alright, so I know I'm not a regular poster of the AC, but I had this idea for a project that I think would be mega sweet. (I hope this is okay, if not, sorry, feel free to just lock it)

Anyway, I'm a producer of electronic music. I play synths, program drums, play some guitar and a lot of bass. I've heard a lot of other people here on the forums talk about guitar playing or bass playing or otherwise. Also, I'm sure that are plenty of people here who program music as I do, even if its just using nothing but software.

Well I got the idea to start a Forum music project, where we make a list of musicians who want to take part and just wrote some shit. One of us could write a basic line with bass and drums and either host it, or send it directly down the line. Then the next guy grabs it and adds whatever he thinks sounds good or whatever he plays. If he plays guitar, he just records some sweet guitar over it, hosts/sends the new version and it continues, until we get to the end of the line. Maybe someone around here with a voice and some lyrical skills could record some vocals, or we could just leave it a multi-layered instrumental track.
Hey if it was good enough, maybe we could make a bunch of tracks and make a cd to sell for, like, Child's Play or something.

So there it is, hopefully I'm not the only one who would think this a cool idea. If you're interested just post in here and we'll start getting a list going.

Not to sound like a stickler for "teh rulez", but I'm not sure if this goes here, or in the questions/chat topics or whatever... I guess it merits a topic of it's own, but I dunno how it all exactly goes down here

I don't really have very great musical "skills", but I would definately be interested in following this project/idea if it gets off the ground. Hell, if I practice enough, then my guitar playing may even be good enough. Do keep us posted, incase you are asking around any other places (which would probably be a good idea)

Well see I got this idea a while ago and lurked around a bit to find it wouldn't really fit anywhere. So I hit the Monkey Den to try to suggest they start a dedicated music forum. All I got in response was people telling me that they discussed music in D&D, to which I replied I was refering more to projects and such. Then it seemed like they just got annoyed because all I got after that was someone saying "to talk about bands go to D&D, to talk about your own music, go to AC."
I don't know, I would think people in here would be more receptive to this than in any other forum, but if its not the right place, I'll have to figure out something else I guess.

It sounds like an interesting community project to me.

And I myself think this is a fine place to suggest this since composing music is a form of art. But then, I'm not a mod so they know what goes and what doesn't.

It sounds pretty awesome to me though, and it's worth a shot to at least mention it here!

The idea is indeed interesting, but the mods are likely to lock this thread. Discuss it in the chat thread and then when you actually have something to show for it make a thread. i.e. same as for artwork, new threads need art in em.

Then again maybe they'll allow it.
