360 locks up during Netflix videos

Hey guys,

I've had a weird issue lately. My xbox Red Ringed a few weeks ago and I got a new one two weeks later. Since then whenever I try to watch a Netflix video it will freeze the entire thing at random intervals.

The weird thing is that I think it's tied to my XBL profile, because while my xbox was out my friend brought his over to my house. I plugged in my HDD and logged into my profile. We were playing Army of Two and it kept freezing on me so I gave up and let another friend play for a while. He logged into his profile and it never froze again.

After figuring out it was my profile I Recovered my Gamertag and it seemed to fix the problem as we were able to play through Army of Two the rest of the night. When I got my new xbox back it seemed to still be working fine since recovering my tag. Until yesterday when the Netflix thing started happening.

So I just recovered it again, and it got about half way through an episode of Law and Order and froze yet again. So I ask you guys what it could possibly be and what I can do to fix it.

Things I have done:
  • Took HDD out and put it back in
  • Recovered Gamertag
  • Cleared HDD Cache
  • Unplugged and plugged system back in

Any other ideas?

Some sort of problem with your network connection?

Would that lock up my entire 360 and cause me to give it a hard boot before it comes back up?

Probably not. Some googling shows other people have experienced the problem, but no fixes are suggested.

Yeah. I just tried removing netflix and redownloaded it. About to see if that fixed it.

I was able to play the NFS demo.

Didn't last 5 minutes and it froze.

I've been having the same issue, and i am just waiting for it to brick. Is Microsoft still repairing? I know you have to box/ship it yourself. I think i'm out of the warrantee phase though. I think the last time i red-ringed and got it replaced was a little over 3 years ago (maybe less...)

At this point I want it to Red Ring so I can send it out again. I just got this one back... But the problem is it seems I can play games just fine, just Netflix messes up. At least, I think so.

So I just plugged my 360 into my router directly instead of using the Official 360 wireless adapter and I was able to watch an entire episode of Heroes without it freezing. I think I'm going to keep it plugged in for now... The downside is that the damn thing isn't more than a year old and it's already busted. $99 down the drain.
