:!: Here's a thread about your various gamestores. :!:
I am curious as to where everyone does the majority of their games shopping, and how it differs from country to country.
Think of this as a survey, if you will. Or a diving-off point for what you'd rather see done.

Availability of new titles: [0.0 - 10.0; or abstain]
Fairness of price: [0.0 - 10.0; or abstain]
Raves: [limit to 1-3 sentences per]
Gripes: [limit to 1-3 sentences per]
EDIT: Mod approval? This has been a fortuitous day
EDIT2: Looking for an international focus. Like, where do you get the biggest price differences? Fairness is [the original price x conversion factor from Google] compared to the cheapest American price

Though I thought it could be a jumping-off point... yeah, it's a survey thread.
Do whatever, mods.
USA
Huge national chain
Availability of new titles: [9.0]
Fairness of price: [8.0; 2.0 for trade-ins]
Raves:
- All over the place, (i.e. some malls have 2+)
- Varies from store to store, but the employees can be real helpful
Gripes:
- Stickers on the inside covers for used and sometimes used games. This is a horrid practice that really cheapens the games so that they have no resale value.
- Essentially a cutthroat pawnshop
- Only current gen
- No pricing difference between pristine-honestly-we-could-say-new and used as a coaster/frisbee
- 'New' can sometimes translate to 'we let everyone working here play it'. I mean, that policy is pretty awesome for people who work there, but I don't.
[on-line only entity]
Availability of new titles: [9.8]
Fairness of price: [7.5]
Raves: Fast, easy, weekend deals, demos, trailers, great selection, download anywhere I want, fuckawesome.
Gripes: Too awesome to let the rest of the world use it fully.

[Huge national chain]
Availability of new titles: [9]
Fairness of price: [8]
Raves: [Employees are pretty cool and manager is this super hot 20-something chick, whos very friendly. Never had any trouble there lately. Gotten some pretty great deals there.]
Gripes: [Some of the old employees were complete dicks. Only 1-2 employees working at a time usually, so lines when checking out can be super long]

[Giaganormous National Chain]
Availability of new titles: [9]
Fairness of price: [9]
Raves:
- Ridiculously good prices on PC games (IE: 10 Dollars on Red Alert/LOTR Online collectors edition)
- Nobody has ever asked me to pre-order from there
- Can shop for things other than games (Anime, gear, etc) without long travel distances.
Gripes:Oh Steam, how I love you and your insane weekend deals
USA, Texas / California / Arizona, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Nevada, Oregon, & Washington
[Small national chain]
Availability of new titles: 9.8
Fairness of price: 9.5
Raves:
- They have an incredible selection. They always have niche games that most stores don't carry, including big box stores and Gamestop.
- They sometimes will even import Japanese games.
- They also carry rare accessories that other stores do not.
- Often they will discount a game as a sale in the first week it's out. Older games get pretty good discounts.
Gripes:
- Not organized too well
- not much employee assistance

These guys tracked me down a copy of WiiFit from Jersey the weekend it dropped (which also happened to be on my wife's birthday). They've got me as a customer for life. Well, at least until I move.
They tried to bury us. They didn't know that we were seeds. 2018 Midterms. Get your shit together.
[on-line only entity]
Availability of new titles: [9.8]
Fairness of price: [9.0]
Raves: [Too many awesome things, really, but I'll start with availability (being able to buy or redownload games whenever I want, instead of having to go to the store which may be closed to trying to look for discs I may have thrown away or that are scratched). They also have a huge selection of games to choose from and excellent prices, plus the weekend deals. Lastly, the Steam community features are great and allow me to communicate and organize shit with my friends or other people while we're in-game, out of game, whatever.]
Gripes: [None for me, though apparently other parts of the world get shafted on price and availability (though that's not really Valve's fault, it's the publisher that decides such things)]
[online only]
Availability of new titles: [9.6]
Fairness of price: [9.5](Sometimes up to 11 on weekend deals)
Raves: Never losing my game catalog even between computers, sometimes weekend deals are amazing, unified interface.
Gripes: Obviously, no returns ever. Also no canceling pre-orders. You buy it? It's yours forever, which is also how long all the money's gone.
