Homebuyer tax credit.

Purchased a home over the summer and had my taxes amended by an accountant and all that jazz, but my $8,000 credit rebate has not arrived yet. I figured the IRS was backlogged, but my co-worker who purchased a home two months after me received hers in four weeks. I have been waiting considerably longer.

I know there has to be a way to track where my credit is, or to request a new one, but I can't seem to find it on irs.gov or any amount of googling. Anybody know where to find this information?

She was very, very, very lucky to get it in 4 weeks.

Took me just over 13 weeks to receive mine. I called them a few times and the answers were "Yep, we have your amended return, it's been here for 7 weeks. You will receive your check sometime within the next 9 weeks."

It can take up to 16 weeks to get your check and there is not a damn thing you can do but wait it out.

I'm just waiting to file my tax credit when I get my W2's next year. Will probably be a lot easier. I hope.

Mine took about 8 or 9 weeks. You can call them up and check on the status of it. I called after about 7 weeks just to check, and they actually told me "your check will be mailed on this date" because it had already been processed and was going out in a few days.

Ah, okay, that makes me feel a bit better. As for calling like you guys mentioned....is that just the IRS number I need to be calling?

I'd like to at least know if it's still being processed instead of in somebody else's mailbox or something. My father loaned me several thousand dollars for my downpayment, and while he's completely fine with me taking as long as I need to repay him, I'd certainly like to at least give him an update.

I think I called the number to ask about the status of your refund (rather than the general IRS question line) at 1-800-829-4477 ( http://www.irs.gov/contact/index.html?navmenu=menu3 ).

She may have not filed her tax returns either.
We knew we were buying a house in June/July so we filed an extension instead of filing in April.
We had our total return back with quickness.

Lovely, thanks. That's what I was looking for.
