Working at home as a second job

So right now I work 32-40 hours a week, most days are 9:45 - 6:15, but occasionally 8 - 4:30. Days vary; sometimes I'll get a weekend off, others it'll be two random days during the week.

I'm trying to get a second job to save up money for both my wedding next year, and a little bit for a down payment on a future car, because right now even getting paid 11-something an hour, most of that is going to keeping me and my fiancee going. She has her own two jobs, but both pay little, and she has car payments, and right now I'm managing to have enough for groceries and bills and not struggle from paycheck to paycheck, but I still need to save some extra cash for Christmas. Basically, I'm trying to save for three different things, and not enough cash to do it.

My search for a second job has been pretty fruitless. The few places in town that are open late enough to even consider hiring are all not hiring, or pass me up for people who can work longer hours. And it's not like I'm not looking low; my best bet was working at the Dairy Queen my fiancee left (on good status), and they said they would hire me for grill on the spot IF I could get off work at 5. Which isn't happening, at all.

Long story short, I'm keeping in mind the possibility of doing work at home. The thought of transcription work has come up, my mom used to do it, but I'm wondering if that or anything else is feasible to do at home, but not full time. And how I would go about reaching people who are hiring for those services ... my mom's contacts have basically disappeared. Or if anyone else has any ideas that will help.

Tl:dr; Can't get a second job to save up money, so looking for at home work instead while also working almost-full time during days

E: I'm also going to put up a few fliers around, basically saying that I can be available in late afternoons to help people put up holiday decorations for (I'm thinking) $5 / hour, or do yard work for $7 / hour. I don't care if it's below minimum wage, or not worth the time. I need to get money one way or another. Unfortunately, I also put up the ads last year and didn't get a single response.

Have you looked into answering texts for chacha or kgb?

I know a guy that stopped working at my place of employment a year ago and he has been making a living off answering questions for kgb.

How do you get into that? Is it a pay-per-answer kinda thing?

    Look here

    And here
Compensation is “per piece” and is based on response type:

    * $0.10 (USD) for each full response – query is investigated and answered by the Special Agent
    * $0.05 (USD) for each validation response – answer automatically populates from our Knowledge Database and is forwarded on by the Special Agent

Thank you Buddies for that link. I took the 'test' just to see how I'd do, and I did fairly well except in the Research department, but honestly that was just a trial run to see how it worked. If I'd have given myself a few extra seconds, I'd do fine. I'm gonna talk this over with my gal tonight, see if this sounds like something worth putting time into, and if so I'll probably re-take the test, open a separate bank account, the works.

Anyone else have any other options or things they know of other people doing?
