NEW YORK (AP) -- The Dow Jones industrial average has reclaimed 10,000 for the first time in a year. The Dow crossed five figures in afternoon trading Wednesday, seven months after it hit a 12-year low of 6,547.05 on March 9. The comeback by the stock market's best-known indicator is the most visible sign yet that investors believe the economy is indeed recovering from the financial crisis and recession.

8-) Feelin' good man. Gotta diversify that portfolio.

Pretty much yeah. It's just one of many indicators that helps forecast what the future economic climate is going to be like. Hopefully it helps get the ball rolling elsewhere. But there's nothing in that number that actually says "PANIC = OVER"

I mean, damn. Michigan has 15% unemployment, and that's just based on people who are still looking for jobs. You get five dudes together in Michigan, one of them probably doesn't have a job.

That's a rather inaccurate depiction of how unemployment figures work.

Fun fact: Twin Pines Mall is a fictional shopping center located in the also fictional city of Hill Valley, where the movie Back to the Future takes place. In the movie, the mall parking lot is where Doctor Emmett Brown first experiments his time machine, making his dog Einstein the first time traveler in the world. The site where the mall was filmed for the movie is actually Puente Hills Mall, located in City of Industry, California. The J. C. Penney location seen in the movie has been shut down, and is now occupied by a 24 Hour Fitness center.

In the fiction, when Marty McFly comes back from 1955 to 1985, the mall happens to be the Lone Pine Mall. This is due to the fact that when Marty arrives in 1955, he is actually at the Twin Pines Ranch, which belongs to the Old Man Peabody. Trying to avoid being gunshot by Peabody, Marty races off the property and accidentally hits one of the two Peabody's prized pines, leading the place to be called Lone Pine, since there had been only one pine tree left.

I am unreasonably excited about the addition of a digit to the number. I have been looking forward to it for a long time.

I guess not entirely unreasonable because I have a good chunk of money riding those numbers.

I think I would rather make up a week's worth of them at home and put them in the freezer. 30 seconds, and you have the same thing for a lot less in the morning.

I had one back in school and wore it out. 4 different guys making sandwiches (probably upwards of 20 a week) really did a number on it.
