So you don't think I'm dumb, this is a new development.
I'm not defending the entire life debt thing but copying and pasting what was posted on the something awful forums (which is where I copied and pasted it originally)
Yeah, that theory makes a hell of a lot more sense than the truth of the situation.
It works a lot better than two Droids that got involved completely by accident in the original film running around all over the prequel trilogy, being wacky, because they're iconic characters and just have to be in it.
Prequels that shove in characters that got involved in the main story by a coincidence in the original movie/book/whatever just bug the crap out of me. It's even worse with Sci-fi, because it makes the entire universe feel like it has all of a dozen people in it. I'm pretty much going to believe that from now on.

All that stuff about R2-D2 makes sense except for the parts about Chewbaca.
Didn't a young cadet Han Solo rescue then-slave Chewie from an Imperial Academy on Corellia and thus, owes him a life debt?
The Falcon is so good because Chewbaca is a brilliant mechanic/engineer having been working as a slave for so long.
Chewbaca arranged it that way. Still, I guess the whole thing could be revised on that point. Han has been Chewbaca's front-man all along, but the Falcon came into their possession because Chewie knew what he could do with that model of ship, and rigged the game between Han and Lando.
did han and chewie even know each other when han won the falcon

The only thing nerdier than this would be a Star Wars/Star Trek TNG crossover and the TNG crew are different species so they're a bunch of different animals and also Dr. Who is there for some reason.
I remember picking up a X-Men / Star Trek 'Junior novelization' once at Wal-Mart. Tried to read a page, brain bled, put it back on the shelf. Had to finish buying my Transformers, leaking brain blood all over the Express lane checkout.
