I was a bit miffed at the lack of armor, but then I remembered what the devs said about Battlefield Heroes: they have character customization, but since you never saw it in-game they decided to go for an over the shoulder view instead.
Which, to me, feels like a bass ackwards way of designing a game.
I'm intrigued by these class items now. Like Roland's "Support Gunner" from that preview. I get the feeling I'm going to be respecing whenever I find one with a cool concept.
Ahhh shit. I hadn't been paying any attention to this, I've already got Demon's Souls and soon Uncharted 2 and Brutal Legend to play, not to mention Ratchet and Clank coming up and now this!
I've been talking this game up to my friends for so long to make sure I have people to play it with that I've just psyched myself up! Can't wait to jump in and shoot things.
The Idle Thumbs podcast tempered my enthusiasm. But then that 32 minute Giant Bomb quick look went ahead and brought it back up again. Clearly they haven't had the problems the idle thumbs fellows have had. Plus.... A gun with infinite ammo?!?
Now I just have to figure out what character I'll run. Maybe Roland in singleplayer, and Mordecai when I play split-screen with my roommate.
welp, just got done using the skill tool thing and getting a rough idea of my level-up path with each character (based mostly on my preferred playstyle since nothing is really known about the value of individual skills)
pretty much am peeing my pants in anticipation

I'm glad I stayed up to watch the stream. A bunch of the Devs came in and had a nice Q and A... told the player what cool quests to pick up... had lots of "damn, nice headshot" commentary, it was a lot of fun.
I avoided watching it for potential non-gun related spoilers (plus I found that guy annoying to listen to and watch) but would have liked to chat with the devs. Or mostly just fellate them through chat text.
Man the wait for the PC version is going to be that much harder. I need to find a way to procure a copy for the 360 in the interim.
I bought for Steam but I also have both a PS3 and 360 copy in my Gamefly que to cover my bases and I'm hoping to at least get a few days of "preview play" before the PC release when I can play with my friends.

I know, I've convinced at least 2 or 3 of my friends to buy it and I'll feel bad if they don't like it, but I don't think that's likely as this is right up our alley. I am concerned with some of their PCs though, I hope it scales really well.

god, that giantbomb video confirmed that i'm going to spend six years of my life playing this game
My worry is that if the cap is 50, and you finish the game at 30, then there might not be much to do other than a single playthrough.
I seem to recall that you can increase the difficulty after your first run-thru. Besides, I don't think this game is going for a strong story arc, it's about killing stuff and finding guns. If you get tired of that quickly, this game isn't for you.
Man I had never heard of giantbomb before but between this and there dragon age quick look they are definately cementing themselves as giving good previews.
And yeah you got to see there is a fast travel system and looked like merchants near enemies? So I guess you don't have to run back to town. His gun variety looked sweet and with that heavy machine gun he had 900+ bullets so I guess there goes that worry.

I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.
Diablo 2 used the same mechanic of NG+. But Diablo 2 had 3 difficulty levels. This one has 2. Does that make any sense, or am I just being silly?
Being a bit silly, yeah for single player 2 play throughs would probably cap you, but multi seems to up the enemy spawn and in the preview he was getting taken out by those worms on single, on multi I'm sure its flat out nuts.
Also as clarence bodicker once eloquently put it "GUNS GUNS GUNS!"

Not sure what system to get this for.
360 or PC...
Is this game going to be modable?
There has been no official word on tool kits or anything like that, only speculation from the community director.
I prefer PC for games like this for potential patches but from what I've played and seen I think it's going to come down to who you want to multiplay with. If all my friends had 360s that's probably what I would buy.

Admittedly, I've only read these two posts and am probably assuming incorrectly what you're talking about..... BUT, don't most people play these kinds of games for the loot primarily? Seeing what sort of badass weaponry I could get is what kept me going through Too Human long after hitting that lvl cap.

Yeah I was trying to say you are going to be playing it for the loots, LOOTS PHAT LOOTS MAN!
I liked in the preview we saw the different item equips.
God damn it now I want it for the 360 and the fucking PC!

So, are there weapons besides firearms?
I see Brick's got alot of skills that reflect melee attacks. I enjoy the idea of fighting with my fists. Like a man. A Gentleman.

When I punch an enemy to death I will have a text macro that says "Gutter Trash"
Not really, he's the tank dude and I think zerk with talents can have a fairly fast refresh. Just that in an fps you will be expected to shoot some of the awesome guns.

Giantbomb preview was pretty awesome. I was excited to see that class-specific role mod(?), looked interesting. Did that pistol have infinite ammo or just not need to reload?
I can't decide between Lilith assassin or brick explode-guy builds.

Looked like it didn't need either (reloading or using ammo period), but the damage appeared weaker. Could have been he didn't use pistols often with his soldier so the damage done wasn't the greatest.
It was also nice in the preview you can see a guy got a random blue from killing skags.

If you're a completist...
the devs have been posting over at SA that they will listen to the community to see what the first DLC will be, hopefully higher difficulties.

Are you
1) Available this Saturday, 10/17, from 8pm - 1am CST, and
2) In or willing to go to Dallas, TX?
Then Gearbox would like to play Borderlands with you.
EDIT: Are you shut in, trapped under a vending machine, or allergic to Texas? Then wait until Friday 10/23 and play with the game developers on XBLA instead.

Just guns, some of them will have things on the end of the guns (like bayonets), but this is very much an fps.

Ah.
Hmmm. I guess I'll have to work Liquidate into my build then. I'll use any means to be in neigh constant berserk.
Well if you don't spec for berzerking he can still soak up more fire than the rest and has specialties for rocket launchers.
