NOTE: I'm a complete newbie to DJing.
Over the past few months, I have amassed a huge amount of tracks to DJ with.
I'm slowly learning the ropes of Adobe Audition to mix instrumentals and acapellas, but I'm looking for a program to live DJ with.
Does anybody have any suggestions for programs to DJ with?
I hear things about Virtual DJ/Traktor/Serato, but do these programs allow me to access my DJ library with BPM/info/etc?

Messing around with Virtual DJ, so easy to use.
Finds the BPM and syncs up pretty easy.
I wish I had a controller though...
Serato Itch doesn't seem to work without a controller, like at all.
I'm wondering whether it just comes down to personal preference between the three programs?

Itch is designed to work with specific midi controllers like the Numark NS7 or a Vestax VCI-300. You have to have an Itch compatible controller in order to use Itch. However you can still use Serato Scratch Live. Which, a couple of interface changes aside, is practically identical and works with anything you provide it.
I'd honestly stick to either Serato or Traktor. If you want to get serious about DJ'ing they're the best. For f'ing around Virtual DJ is good, and reasonably powerful. The other 2 are just flat out better in my opinion though.
I use Itch and a VCI-300 myself. I like the VCI quite a bit. Solid knobs and faders, and great sound quality. Thing is built like a brick too, very sturdy construction.
I've made a mix using virtual DJ that turned out pretty well but haven't used Serato. Very interested in this thread as well so if anyone else has suggestions for controller/laptop configurations that are decent, let me know.

There's loads of configs you can use. Scratch live + an SL box with a traditional vinyl deck and mixer = vinyl + digital. Very nice setup.
VCI-100s + Traktor are infinitely configurable. You can do just about anything by tweaking traktors button configs with a VCI-100.
For the most part that's what you'll find. Most clubs/bars/pro DJ's use Traktor or Serato. Very few stray from those 2 programs. Traktor is the most complex of the two. It can be configured to do just loads of shit, and has a billion effects built into it. Serato is more of a tradionalist app. It doesn't have as many bells and whistles, but it's more stable.
Can you use Serato or Traktor without a controller?
I don't have the cash to buy some DJ equipment right now.
VirtualDJ seems to work in the sense that I can just load up tracks and play them.
But, it seems as if a controller is the way to go.
I was looking into the NS7, but it's quite a bit of cash.
Are there any other programs that I could use that don't require a controller?
EDIT: Oh, and the VCI-300 looks siiiiiiiiiiiiick.

Yea the NS7 is quite a bit of cash, and personally I'm not a huge fan of numark's stuff lately. But I've been dying to get my hands on an NS7.
As far as using Serato and Traktor without a controller, yes you can. It will be significantly more difficult to use, but you can still use it just fine.
Edit: and as far as sites to check out. There's a few, but it depends on what you're mixing. Most sites cater to specific types of DJ'ing(IE: turntablists, hip hop, dance, digital, etc, etc). For digital DJ'ing I recommend keeping tabs on www.djtechtools.com Ean Golden(they guy who runs DJTT) is a very well respected DJ, and is extraordinarily knowledgeable about the ins and outs of digital DJ'ing.
