I've been wanting to put videos up on Youtube for a while now, except I have no idea of how to do so. What programs, etc. would I need?

    I've done a very basic video using Windows Movie Maker. It allowed me to put a few video clips and pictures together, had a few transitions, could put music and titles with it, that's about it. As far as I remember, Youtube kind of walks you through the steps of hosting them, you just need a finished movie file on your end.

    If you just need to compress the footage, Media Coder works pretty well. If you need to edit it, there are a number of programs with free trials (also, I've heard good things about Windows Movie Maker for the basic stuff...but I've never gotten it to work on my pc)

    I just tried to run Windows Movie Maker and it said my video card does not support the required level of hardware acceleration or hardware acceleration is not available.

    I'm using a Toshiba laptop. I've had it maybe a year.

    I'm not sure it's all that complicated. What I did for the single video from PAX I uploaded (username mspencer712):
    1) get file from camera
    2) upload that same file to Youtube

    I'm probably grossly oversimplifying your question. Do you want detail for those two steps? Or is there something else you want to do to the video (like edit it) before uploading?
