I want to give my employer 2 weeks notice to quit, if he decides to have me leave that day will I be owed severance or some other kind of pay?

This is in BC, Canada.

From my experience in Alberta, they would have to pay you 2 weeks severance if they decide to fire you immediately in that case.

Plus any remaining vacation time would have to be paid out as well.

If I remember correctly it was a provincial thing, and I'm not quite sure how different B.C would be.

A-town. I imagine you live in Abbotsford?

And yes, when you give your two week notice he has to pay you for the remaining time that you are employed. If he tells you to go home that's fine, but tell him you will be expecting to be paid for the time that you are asked to be absent from the work place.

If you have a union, they will be able to help you out about this. If you don't have a union, document everything you did with your employer, just in case he tries to fuck you. If he does, take it to labour relations and get them to slap him.

I don't have a union, and yeah, A-town is Abby, as embarrassing as that is.

Thanks for the quick replies, gentlemen, I figured that'd be the case, and reading the BC labour laws website led me to believe that, I was just hoping for some confirmation.
