Fall games continue.
NDS gets sequel to the very much beloved retro reimagining of Space Invaders as
Space Invaders Extreme 2 comes out this week. NDS also gets the sequel to the music sandbox app known as
Jam Sessions 2. NDS also gets a variety of other things (Marvel Super Hero Squad, Cooking Mama 3, etc), and also if you were looking for Laevatein Tactics last week it may not be on shelves till this week some time.
PC is getting
Windows 7. yayy! I got the upgrade for $50 during a special deal from MS. Now I can get away from XP!
PS3 and
360 get
Borderlands this week. PC gets its next week. Looks potentially very good though I know little about it.
Everything gets Fifa 10, WWE Smackdown, Bakugan, Astroboy, except the PC/PSP on a couple of them.
The Wii/NDS/PS2/PSP get this game called
Marvel Super Hero Squad. No idea what it's like.
Wii's getting a new
Sports Resort bundle with 2 M+'s isntead of 1 for the price of $60. Wii also gets a new Dragon Ball game called
Dragon Ball: Revenge of King Piccolo, dunno anything about it though.
PSP finally gets the port of
Grand Theft Auto Chinatown Wars. It's been tweaked for better graphics but loses touch functionality (of course).
I guess that's it for this week. I think the big ones are Borderlands and Space Invaders Extreme 2.
Posts
If there is one thing the GCN/Wii can do just right its cel shaded anime.
Every week I do this I get images misplaced like that. I typically hit the Post button and then I go back through double checking images. And then I list out and go back into edit to fix them.
So if you're ever the first one to check the thread you'll usually see some messups on my part in the OP for a minute or two before I do my corrections but I usually get images sorted out within a few minutes.
edit: see how my last edit was a few minutes before your post? It's because I fixed it before you submitted that post, but before you refreshed the thread, so even though I corrected it before you posted you weren't able to see the corrected images until you come back into this thread or hit refresh or something. :P
Why not do this by doing Preview Post before hitting "Submit new topic"? It's just easier this way, trust me.

And WOOOO Space Invaders Extreme 2 The first one was fantastic, if crazy-difficult. Might give it some time for the price to drop, but its one I'm keeping my eye on.

Borderlands looks awesome but there is simply too much awesome available currently. It will have to wait.
Trine will have to wait until...well, I have a bit more cash.
Nice to see PSP getting an upgraded port of Chinatown Wars as well.
I just dropped $150 +tax on six games that will probably take me months to play and I'm still not done buying games. I think I have a problem.
EDIT: Actually I know I have a problem. I spend way more time on these forums and on gaming news sites getting info on potential new releases than I do actually playing the games I already have.
Go to backloggery sometime and look at peoples' unfinished collections. It'll probably make you feel at least a little better. Misery, company, all that.
Yeah I've had it for like 2 months now.
Solitaire and Minesweeper are the same as the Vista versions, though they're definitely vast improvements over the old XP ones.
I pretty much figured this out for myself a few months ago. I love coming to this site and other reputable ones to check out reviews and up-coming news, but playing the games themselves? Eh, I'll get to it eventually.
Too many books to read, HBO series to watch, skills to learn...
This week will be a nice breather to catch up on some of my late september games, now that I finished Uncharted 2, before Borderlands comes out next week. Then Dragon Age the next week. And I doubt I'll even get halfway through that before Assassin's creed comes out 2 weeks after that
I'm really hoping Borderlands is as good as it sounds and looks because now that a purchase of Modern Warfare 2 is looking less and less likely I need a good shooter/rpg to make me forget about CoD.
Then I see that it's some kind of board/card game hybrid and I think to myself 'Boo!'.
Now I shall have to dig out my copy of PG and see if I can finally take Paris quickly...
Do not engage the Watermelons.

Also on my list of next purchases, AI War: Fleet Command. An indie 2d space 4x RTS with tower defense aspects for good measure that I read a review of in PC Gamer that was pretty glowing. Tried the demo, and I like it. Apparently its coming to Steam, possibly as early as this week, though I could buy it elsewhere already I am just waiting for the Steam release because when given the option, I tend to go that route.
can't wait
It's nice to know that the biggest release of the year is coming out this early!
Game of the Year. Red Faction doesn't have shit on the Cooking Mama.
May have to hold off on Modern Warfare 2. By the time I have money for it, other stuff will be coming out early next year, and Uncharted 2 and Borderlands should satisfy my shooting multiplayer needs. :winky:

Don't you use week numbers in the US?
This is week 43.
You have brought a great trouble down upon yourself and your family.
By trouble, I of course mean building.
Red Faction and Batman are destined to eternally battle to be game of the year.
As for this week, Borderlands is my own personal marker to the start of Wintergeddon.

Also, I should finally have a game up on XNA Indie Games this week. My first game got delayed to work out some bugs (it'll go up later this year), but in the meantime, I present to you Epiphany in Spaaace! - a sci-fi parody Interactive Novel. 80 MS points. It's the 4th game in the review queue and with only 1-2 more reviews to pass, it should be officially up for purchase any day now. I'll post again when it goes up.

I had the PC predecessor at one point. I think it was in one of the indie games threads. It was pretty good with a mouse. I'm not sure how such a fast-paced shooter will work with a gamepad though.

Nothing for me this week. Game time is spent on ff4ds, and I'm too lazy/cheap to upgrade to windows7 from xp right now. Not broke, don't fix. Looking forward to Torchlight next week though.
(Please do not gift. My game bank is already full.)
You a student? $30
Ehhhhhh
I prefer to just put up the actual date range that the games are coming out, because I think it's more clear.

Oh really? I'd say it's pretty much a no-brainer at this point what's going to be taking that home this year.
Also I've decided that I'm going to get Trine this week because I am weak.
I'm sorry, I can't hear you on account of the darkened shadow swooping down behind to punch you in the head.
I'm still surprised that one of the best games of the year is a Batman game. Couldn't have predicted that a couple years ago.
Seriously. I played the demo and thought "yeah, it's alright, but I can wait". Then I'd heard the combat described as a 'masterclass' in an Assassin's Creed 2 preview, and gave it some more attention. Bought the game and yeah, apart from some shonky boss fights, it's pretty much flawless.
I'm not, but it's for US dudes anyway. Best I can hope for is getting the Vista upgrade pack on Amazon for around $100.
