Things to do in Phoenix when you're bored

A couple friends and I are heading out to the Phoenix area (Chandler) for a week-long vacation on Wednesday. My folks have a house out there, so we just have to pay for airfare, food and entertainment. The problem is, we can't come up with stuff to do. So far, we plan on driving up to the Grand Canyon and the Meteor Crater (different trips), and going on a tour of the Cardinals stadium, which in total takes up 2 and a half of the 6 days we'll be there. Last time we went out, it was Spring Training, so baseball took up much of our time. Not so much this week. Anyone have any suggestions on some other stuff to do, places to eat, etc?

Defiantly take in some of the local Mexican places.

    Carolina's: http://www.carolinasmex.com/

    Macayo's: http://www.macayo.com/

    Garcia's: http://www.garciasmexicanfood.com/

There are a couple of good BBQ Places in town also.

    Bobby Q's: http://www.bobbyq.net/

    Honeybears: http://www.bobbyq.net/

    A few other local places

    Cooperstown: http://www.alicecooperstown.com/

    Majerle's: http://www.majerles.com/

That at least covers the food. There are a bunch of haunted houses and scare parks going on right now, those are always neat. It's a nice time of the year to go out and play golf (or miniature golf). Maybe take in a Coyotes game if they're in town. Botanical Gardens and the Zoo are also really nice this time of year.

South Mountain is some good mountain biking.. decent hiking.

    Superstition mountains are great hiking.

4 peaks brewery is a nice place to visit.

Coyotes and Cardinals will both probably have games while you are here as well.

Cardinals games were the first thing I checked. They're playing the NY Giants (woo hoo!) in East Rutherford, NJ (booo). We are going to an Arizona Fall League game though, probably Saturday night. Maybe catch a Stephen Strasburg start. We'll probably do minigolf and/or driving range.

We're not exactly a hiking/biking group, but my traveling companions are definitely a brewery group. In fact, my brother has already scheduled a trip to 4 peaks.

    Thanks for all the suggestions!

Four Peaks is really fantastic. Try and go on a Saturday. The waitresses are all ASU students and they're all hot.

If you enjoy Hockey check out a Coyotes game in Glendale... dirt cheap tickets for the lower bowl (I hear $25 range).
