Like where do you save what, and stuff.

I'm curious to try that CTS, as well as a bevy of other dot-models made by people with way more artistic sense than me.

    Thanks Houn!

The complete guide was overkill for me, but I'm glad it's the on OP now.

I'm so glad I have my incredibly awkward flash drive. That thing is getting a lot of use in making my PS3 cooler these days.

Aaaand From Mode beated. Started Spelunker mode. Awesome new overworld music, and thankfully you do Spelunker mode with Normal mode's difficulty in enemies. Fewer on screen dudes and they won't throw 6 black knights/cyclops at you in a tiny room. :P

So is there any manner of unofficial repository for custom characters? Perhaps of the copyright-infringing variety?

I found Boba Fett, Jango Fett, and a Clone Trooper on some forum somewhere and I've been using those.

From Mode = Harder difficulty. Enemies have more health, do more damage, and they'll put more enemies on the map and in dungeon rooms. You'll run into blue goblins and mud monsters from the Desert Temple just outside of Raejack Village.

Also, if you don't start as a Hero or Royal, one hit from the first boss in the Grass Temple will pretty much insta-kill you.

I've got a review up here, if you're interested - there's also a complimentary download of my version of the Tenth Doctor from Doctor Who there.

If you're a Future Shop customer I made a model of the logo for laughs - you can get it here.

Ugh. Fire Temple. Boss is easy until I take a hit, then my stupid sword hits the walls when I dash, bouncing me back into his next stomp shockwave. Seriously, this game's controls piss me off, I keep catching myself attacking in the wrong direction. Fighting the analog stick as much as the enemies.

Ugggh, indeed. I freaking hated that boss. He was downright tedious. He spent more time in the air than on the ground, so the entire fight was boring, because I couldn't even attack.

Also, I found myself "overcorrecting" when trying to use the analog stick. Switching primarily to the D-pad made my life a whole lot easier. You get used to spin-slicing with it pretty quick.

This would be wonderful. Most sites I've seen just link pictures of custom ones like Mario, with no download link for the necessary resources. I want to be able to get more cool characters like Houn's rocking Balrog!

Probably should, but circling the sword is easier with the analog. I haven't played this in days, though, kinda just stopped, haven't been in the mood for frustration.

I got side-tracked just after the water dungeon, I really need to get back on the saddle.

Mostly I just don't wanna navigate those annoying teleporting islands again. Even if I get through it I'm gonna be paranoid that I missed something.

Then again I know for a fact that I've missed more than a few things already.

Got this game from Gamefly, and I'm conflicted. I love the graphics, but the game is more frustrating than it is fun. Half the time my sword hits something it shouldn't... And what's the point of the running shoes anyway?

Fighting the Water Boss is a bitch because my sword is so weak, but I also don't want to spend the money to upgrade it if I get a new one....

You should download my Balrog and CTS heroes. Also, I never really had any issues upgrading swords, I had so much cash. Well, until I traded it on Goozex, so...

Wish I had read this before sending it back to GF. The game was very charming and interesting at first. But after a while I felt like I should just be playing a Link to the Past.

Which means I went back, played the game a bit, then went to see the midnight showing of The Expendables. Got home at 2am, woke up, packed up the game, and then surfed the web. :P

Well, that just sounds like a personal problem. :P

Anyway, yeah, I probably shouldn't have looked at a FAQ for this game. Upon realizing how much stuff I'd missed and would have to restart to see, I lost all motivation to play, and thus traded it off.

Yeah, what's the deal with time-sensitive quests anyway? Why would they think that's a good idea?

Trying to be true to the old school. Which is fine, so long as we all acknowledge there's a reason people don't really do that in games anymore.

Considering how much this game borrows from Zelda, you'd think they'd not put those in. At least, I don't recall anything like that in any Zelda game I ever played.

Unfortunately, I don't know of any online places, but there was just a patch the other day that adds 50 new user and staff created Heroes. (Including Sackboy)

It also does some other stuff.
The patch adds 50 fan- and staff-created heroes, the ability to carry over certain swords to New Game+, and adjustments to the completion times for the Dash Circuit mini game. In addition, a bug fix restores previously absent loading art images so they will randomly appear and be viewable in the Loading Art Gallery.

Did they make the completion times more reasonable for the dash circuits? Because I stopped playing so long ago, but going back to it later may come more easily if the times aren't as strict.

I need to play this. I got it a long time ago, right at release I think, and only played it for a couple hours. I got lost and then wandered around, and then Red Dead came out, and then went to back Fallout. I have probably played Fallout 3 for more than 100 hours.

This game is very charming, but it is not easy to pick up and play for an hour here and there. I have the impression there is a lot of fun to be had, despite missing out on the Zelda games and not playing a lot of 8/16 bit games. I just need to invest some time in to this game to get that fun.

I cast Kazing on this thread!

So because I have nothing to play while waiting for Ar Tonelico I was looking at my wall and went "Oh hey, 3D Dot Game Heroes! I only got to the second dungeon in that. Time to fix that problem!" So now I'm playing this again. Since people have had time to finish this is there any easily missable sidequests that I should make sure to do? Because I know there's missable stuff. Also the patch makes the circuit dashes so much easier. It is WONDERFUL. The first dash circuit is 25 seconds for the block now. It used to be 20 right? Looking back at my old posts in this thread I'm pretty sure you had to get under 20 for the block.

Two posts up...I never did make it back to this game. Really should.

The FROM quest is the one you can screw up the easiest. If you're not already doing it at the second dungeon, you've already missed out completely I believe. You have to check in with this NPC after every dungeon, I believe.

Unless you plan to play through it a second time immediately, I'd just pull up a FAQ to make sure you hit all the quests. Or else you'll miss trophies for quests, and then miss trophies for not having all the weapons, when you get a few from quests, etc. Very frustrating to get to the end and realize if I hadn't missed the FROM quest I'd be in a much better position to unlock half the trophies on one playthrough.

Oh man, I wonder if I did already miss that FROM quest. I think I talked to everybody in town, but I'm not sure. I'll have to check next time I boot it up, but it looks like wikicheats has the quests in the order they show up. It's a good thing I'll be checking now, because if I did screw up I'll only have lost about 20 minutes of playtime.

So many quests are just 'magically know to talk to this random NPC that has never had anything interesting to say up until this exact moment in time.' It's even worse when you have to find a string of them to talk to in a particular order, sometimes between one dungeon and the next or else you lose your chance forever. Sometimes across half the game.

I have no clue how someone figured all of these out, you'd basically have to talk to every NPC in the game after anything changed - including one of the NPCs you talked to saying something new.
