In what may be his most faithful escape from the page,
Hellboy will be let loose on Cartoon Network this Saturday night in
Hellboy: Sword of Storms.

This first of at least two animated features finds our antihero traveling to Japan on the trail of a scholar possessed by ancient spirits. These malevolent incarnations of Thunder and Lightning are intent on world domination, and only one weapon can threaten their catastrophic scheme.

Hellboy: Sword of Storms will premiere on October 28th, at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT on Cartoon Network. Let’s hope they keep ‘em coming!

12/29 40 Minutes into the show and wow, its too boring for the kiddies, but just right for us grown folk! Lot of plot details, almost seems like this should not be considered a show but maybe a series? ...

It's a movie, not a series. A very good one at that.

I made a thread on this a while back but it's old. Very old.

Oh and there's a second one coming up sometime this year.

I still hold that Liz's nose ring in the movie was goddamn distracting.

Other than that, I got nothing.

Though the idea of a series in this was a goddamn cocktease.

Any idea what the second movie is supposed to be about?

Looks cool, although I wish it was animated in the style of the comic-book, like that other show he was doing, the Amazing Screw-On Head.

Wonder what ever happened to the series idea for that one...

The pilot episode didnt test well, so nothing's been done with it yet. SciFi channel has untill some point in 2007 to pick up the show, after which Mignola can shop the idea to other networks (but all the animation already done, including that excellent pilot will still belong to SciFi). You can watch the pilot episode online somewhere.

Mingola really didn't like that Screw On head was so true to his comic. He would rather see a different style when his stuff is animated.

    So I heard.

    Wierd.

I can understand wanting to differentiate different media presentations from each other, but his style just works so as animation. My only complaint about Screw-On Head was the framerate was a little low and it sometimes felt a little choppy.
