Household routers being fucking nuts!

We have 'situation' in my household. We have a Netgear Wireless router that has been acting pretty crappy. Our internet connections will stay active for AIM or any sort of file sharing, but access webpages is an absolute no-go. This will stay in effect for like 20 minutes, then everything will work for 10, and the cycle repeats (unless someone powercycles the router).
Tonight we tried using two Linksys routers (both wireless G). Both gave us the same problem - the routers were active network wise, but we weren't able to get an IP from Comcast through them. A subsequent phonecall to Comcast ended up with the jackass not understanding what my roomie (the account holder) was informing them of.
Anyone know of any remedies, preferably with the Netgear Router first, Linksys second priority? This is driving us all NUTS.

Well, First problem is you have a netgear router.
Second thing is, Comcast (Or anyone else for that matter)does not give you your IP through your router, they give it to your modem, to which the router connects and gives internal IP addresses to every dvice that connects to the rouer.
Since the problem is the same with other routers, I would say that either the problem is the wireless signal or a pebcak.
Try doing it as a test with an ethernet cord to rule out signal degradation/interference.

Er, I totally forgot to mention that two of us are wired into the router (as is the PS3) and only one of us uses the wireless function for the moment.
And just to note again, the problem we get with the Netgear router is different than the problem we get with both Linksys routers.
As has been said above, the problem seems to be the modem not the router, though the symptoms don't all line up. Unless you were file sharing and IMing locally, you would need an internet IP for those activities too.
If you are getting an internet IP - the problem may be comcast, the modem or the router. If you are NOT getting an internet IP then you should focus on Comcast/modem.
Have you power cycled the modem? If Comcast had understood you, this is the first thing they would have asked you to do. Let it sit off for a good 60 seconds or so, then power it back on. Make sure you get all 4 sync lights.
As Krikee said - if you have a nicely updated (and AV protected) windows box, try connecting directly to the modem to see if that clears things.
We've all PEBKAC'd - I don't think he was being a jerk.
