Goddamnit, this plot makes less and less sense the more I see. So Zakhaev went from angry never-quite-got-over-the-Cold-War arms dealer with nukes and extra goons to a goddamned national idol overnight? Right. Sure.
The ending is pretty bad on top of that and doesn't really add up at all either.
Enlighten me, I don't really think much is too surprising at this point.
Let me take a stab at it: Shepherd is a dirtbag who is an eeeeeevil mastermind.
It's real easy to get high kill streak in MW. Mostly due to the shitty maps. Wetwork I'm looking at you and Bog, when people decide that standing in the middle where that bus is safe from the airstrike. I've had a 31 kill streak on Wetwork sniping thanks to the airstike and the inablity of players to shoot down the heli. Such a crap map.

I won't say anything, I'll just send you a link via PM so you can judge the ending yourself. I've watch a stream from beginning to end, and the story gets really unbelievable (not in a good way) and bad after the mission in
That's interesting that it gives you the option to skip a certain level without affecting the rest of the game. At least they're aknowleging that it might be too much for some people.
When I heard about it I was like "I've killed tons of people in games, whoop dee fucking doo." But actually watching the level being played made me more than a little uneasy.

I found airstrikes pretty worthless on wetwork. Half the time they come in from the wrong angle and don't hit shit. Even still, I can't imagine getting more than 15 kills due to airstrike/helicopter combined (on normal-sized maps ala no shipment and default player counts). I'd imagine certain modes also make it easier to get high kill streaks too... HQ seems to be the easiest. 20ish kill streaks aren't uncommon at all for those not trying to cap objectives.
My highest came on Overgrown in TDM but it was fairly early in the game release when every moron was in Gillie gear with a sniper they couldn't use right. I think at one point I had a 5-knife in a row streak going during it

I've gotten 25 kills off of 1 air strike on wet work once.
Granted, it was on a dedicated server map with 48 players.
It also got me the achievement for killing everyone on the opposing team once.

Anyway, I don't even want to picture what a 24 v 24 looks like on that map. So stupid.

It was actually a huge stand off. It was domination too so we were all in A, and they were in B and C. I just hit it straight down the center on flag B and we were able to make a big push after it helped clear these guys out.
Then I got a chopper and brought it up to a monstrous 30 kills before my streak was ended by some random grenade.

Okay I watched some of it for myself. The level we've been talking about is really stupid, but it's not as bad as it could have been - albeit it is perfect Fox news and media bait in general. The rest of what I watched looked really fun though - albeit what I gathered of the plot it's really pushing believability compared to the first game.
I just wish the guy would shut up, he's a never ending stream of useless comments.

Oh dear lord, I cannot agree more.
And I called part of it off the first loading screen. RSV provided more sensible 'plot twists'. I'm really not sure what that says.
It's like some bastardized spawn of Red Dawn and Act of War: High Treason.
Yeah I agree. They've completely let their success with the first game go to their heads, as evidenced with this games plot and the controversial "sequence" everyone talks about at the expense instead of good writing (like the first game). Such a shame.
EDIT: People still throw CoD in any sort of believable territory?
Honestly, you need to compare the plot of the second game to the first game. Then you will know exactly what "Unbelievable" looks like. Honestly, I won't be paying this game for the plot or story, I'm just going to pretend it doesn't exist (as the gameplay, bar a certain level, looks extremely fun).

I'm thinking about preordering this for PC on Amazon with my Dragon Age $10 credit for the $20 preorder credit. I don't think I'll mind the loss of dedicated servers TOO much since I'm not an avid PC gamer anyway. I just want the fancier graphics and mouse control
Yeah, Modern Warfare 1 was so well written and realistic that my oh my, it is the SECOND one that has reality issues.
The first game reminded me a bit of Tom Clancy actually, or around about that and as I don't mind Tom Clancy it didn't really come off as that bad.
You need to really see how bad this games plot is to believe it. Comparing them, this game makes the first game look absolutely brilliant by comparison.
I've watched enough of the Justin.tv stream to know how major plot points are going to roll. I agree with Red Dawn comparisons, as the entire game is pretty much a grander version of the last 1/4 of MW1.

It's a lot like Transformer movies really, first one wasn't all that bad and was enjoyable if you overlooked the obvious flaws in the story. Then the second comes out and Michael goes crazy in the head from his over inflated ego and makes an abomination.

I file both of the games under "Stupid Bullshit" as far as story goes, and Tom Clancy is in that folder as well. Aliens could descend from from the sky in the tenth level, and it would all still be just as plausible as when it began as far as I'm concerned.
Poor people that can't even afford shoelaces are master criminals stealing nuclear cluster warheads and endangering the Eastern Seaboard of the United States (and here comes the kicker) - for personal reasons.
Right up there with aliens for me.
I just play the games because they're fun and entertaining. Not because they're realistic.

Yeah, that seems the best way of thinking about it.
We can tie the Michael Bay summer popcorn-flick to CoD, but we need to stop when we toe the line towards that bloated mess that was ROTF. MW 2 can be in no way compared to that monstrosity.
That is if we're talking story, of course. I mean, on explosions, they're practically Frat alumni.

Sounds about the description I would give MW2 in terms of plot.
It's better than TF for explosions and action because you can at least see it
Edit: Also I read the whole plot after the videos and I must say, there is a certain point about half-way through the game where MW2s plot goes completely down the toilet.

hur we're actually doing this 10 days before release
In this day and age, a "release date" only means the date when you can put your game into your own console and play it on your own TV.
You can watch basically any game being completely beaten days before that date.
It's actually quite insane.

Yeah, every major release I can think of where there is a console release has its street date broken by days (even weeks) and then a full playthrough online rapidly. Bioshock was the worst, because twats spammed the forums with every major key plot point and such.
I dunno, I wouldn't have played CoD4's multiplayer at all without hardcores more realistic approach to bullet damage.
As for as story though? Yeah I don't expect much, most games/movies give realism a wide berth, even the ones that aren't outright unrealistic (ie no super powers).

I...what? Really? I mean, I'm not sure I'll actually see it used, but really?
Killstreak list:
The high kill requirement, coupled with the facts that its likely a very late unlock and you cannot have killstreaks customized to class make me doubt Ill ever actually see it used in game.
And if the rumor that kills from killstreaks do not count to your current kill streak are true, then it'll be even harder.
Killstreaks used in the next life have been confirmed to been removed I believe.
I've got 9 people on my list with +25, but congrats to Blank who leads with 37.

I like having some level of plausibility in a game that's trying to come across as being 'serious' myself.

for Bioshock, the thread title went:
I don't even know why I spoiled that.
Yeah someone posted that all over the 2K forums before he was banned.
Modern Warfare is not one of them.
Ah, G.I.F.T., as valid today as it is now.
