Servers

How to add a server:
Before you start TF2, right click Steam in your toolbar and click on Servers. Go to the Favorites tab, click Add a Server, and type in the IP. Next time you launch TF2, go to the Favorites tab and select one of the servers that has people in it, type in the password (wang), and you should be good to go. Also make sure "Show map list" is unchecked in the bottom left. It makes finding servers stupid as hell.

I want to get all the halloween achievements before it's too late. I have the two hat related ones, but I haven't killed anyone scared, a spy disguised as my class or with pumpkin bombs.

I have only killed one person with a pumpkin bomb.

Getting all the candy for the paper bag is super easy as pyro, so I guess pumpkin bombs get to be super hard. I wish they did more damage.

The pumpkin bomb one took me forever, and I still have yet to get Costume Contest.

I still love how quickly I got the pumpkin bomb achievement. The domination achievement came pretty quickly as well and I got the costume achievement very easily by "killing" a dead ringer spy, but damn that Scared Stiff achievement took me a long time to get.

I'm wondering though: if the achievements are only for halloween, does that mean that people will be unable to get a gibus after the event ends? Or will the domination rule still apply after, just without a related achievement?

From what I can tell, you can only get it on the harvest event map.. which means once it's Nov 3rd, it's gone until next year.

I've seen people get the Gibus on the Dick or Treat maps.

If you guys are lazy and want to get the exploding pumpkin one, and easy way to do it is by rocket jumping on the roof and shooting pumpkins as people walk by with the shotgun. It only works for the start of the round though.

I'm considering just camping the pumpkins next to candy health packs as a sniper.

alternatively, create your own server, turn on cheats, add bots, turn on bot mimic, turn off cheats and reconnect, the bots will mirror your moves and you can put them next to stuff and get your achievement easily.

I got my exploding pumpkin one by just hanging out as a scout, and pistoling pumpkins when people walked past them.

Get a domination on a specific person though, that's hard.

I love how some people describe demo as super easy and the newb class, yet they don't even play a competent demo themselves.

I'd like any of you who don't play demo on a regular basis to just pick it up.

edit: what ginger said. Pick a class you think looks/plays cool and stick with it. There will be plenty of time for variety when you get bored of that class/have a bad day.

I agree that people new to the game should eventually try out all the classes, but trying to play classes like heavy, spy or engineer without knowing the maps or fully understanding the game mechanics will only be an exercise in frustration.

That is jackass advice from a jackass. What you do is spam M1 and M2. You will get so many accidental kills you will be disgusted with yourself.

Actually, I don't think it has to be that specific. Cause 1. Everyone seems to be wearing it at all times and 2. Even if they aren't wearing it, if it is equipped to one of their classes (even if they aren't playing it) it works. Cause someone got their Gibus off of me when I was playing Pyro and I only had the Gibus equipped on my Soldier.

I can't agree with "so many" but I will admit SOMETIMES there are these funny streaks where detonating Sticky bombs midair as soon as you can gets a good amount of kills. it doesn't seem to happen that often in my experience, though.
