I am trying to hook my 32" LCD philips tv as a second monitor to my pc (geforce 9500 gt video card 2 dvi solts). My method is though the VGA connection on the back of the TV to my card using vga cable. I am not getting any signal with either just the tv hooked up or both. TV has been set to vga and my control panel for the video card is picking up the tv but i get no signal on the tv. I tested both div slots on the card and the cable and all of that plus the div to vga connector all works fine.
I am not sure if i am missing something or if the tv VGA is just not working. Anyone got any ideas on what i could try or maybe something simple i am over looking? thanks.
This might seem like an obvious question, but did you select the secondary monitor in your video card software? For example, my comp has an ATI startup program that lets me select a seconday monitor, etc for the display.
I did, even tried using just the tv. Normally this is just plug and play kind of deal but something fishy is going on but i cant tell if it software or hardware. TV acts like nothing has happened but the software picks up the tv.
Did you make sure the resolution setting for the TV is set to something the TV can handle? When someone uses my PC and sets the secondary monitor to something more than 1280x720 it won't work, as I only have a 720p tv.
yes. i didnt at first but thr software auto adjusted than i tested on 800 x 600 with no luck.
just tested with a different pc and it wored fine. testing a different div to vga converter now. thats my guess what the problem is. that or the junk video card.
omg... iam stupid for not thinking this way before now but i found the problem. Turns out it was the video card drivers. should of thought of that a while back... :P just thought i post a update for anyone else with this issue.
