Game On: Red Alert (even if you run XP)

Hi,
If you want to play the origional red alert online TONIGHT read this guide, follow the steps to exactly how they are layed out, any problems ask me (contact info at bottom) - this took me a day to sort out
STEP 1
Download or have your red alert CD - if you have the First Decade pack then there is extra steps. I have the origional CD and this worked for me. Also you can download that shit off Torrentz
STEP 2
Install red alert onto XP using the EA Support Guide.

There are a few patches to select from that list I used RA108USP.exe I would suggest everyone use the same patch for the sake of compatablity. Read the EA guide carefully and make sure you get the patch it links to. In order to install it both the exe and the .something file need to be in the RA directory.
STEP 3
you need to download and install the 3.03 patch

ALTERNATE STEP 3:
Alternativly if you have the C&C First Decade version you will need to install the game with the 3.03 patch option checked and install a compatablity patch which can be found here
THIS IS ONLY IF YOU HAVE THE "C&C THE FIRST DECADE" VERSION

STEP 4:
In order to play online we will be using the hamachi virtual network client.
Download and install hamachi then follow the guide here

It's super important to follow those directions to the mofucking T. That guide is for complete idiots, ignore the first part about installing red alert - it assumes you have the "C&C First Decade" which not everyone will.
STEP 5:
CRITICAL STEP: You have to disable or create exceptions for all firewall programs. If you have a router that means going into your router settings and either opening up all ports, or opening up the specific ports... Lets get realistic here, hackers arn't waiting for you to open up ports so they can steal your myspace account, just open that shit up.
If you need help opening your ports on your router here is a guide:
First select your router then select Command and Conqure red alert - from the list... Port forward requires you have a static IP - I found it easier on my DI-524 to open up all ports for the entire range of IPs rather than dick around with static ips and individual ports... Again hopefully a hacker doesn't steal my myspace (oh noes)

Also open up the hamachi ports

STEP 6:
Then to play connect to my red alert virtual network
name: pennyalert
pw: pa
Then start red alert go to network, and if anyone else who does this will be able to play against each other.
Important note: sometimes in the network lobby 2 players may be on however for some reason their names will not show up on the player list, but if everything is correct you can still talk to each other and join games, its best to be on vent or something while setting up a game so you can work around this with little confusion.

I'm assuming your using XP - I tried to install it a bunch and it never worked. Follow the guide I posted and it will work. Not only do you have to install it in compatablity mode you need a special patch - its all in the link - do it now and lets play
