I don't see any possible way to reach 275 in a week.
You'd have to average something like 1.13 billion experience per hour, playing 24 hours a day for that entire week. That's the equivalent of leveling from 1 to 95 every hour in terms of experience required.
And in two weeks...552 million per hour is still an unreasonable expectation. You'd have to have a full card of vassals working tirelessly to pass up experience, and they'd all have to reach 140+ probably inside of day 2 or 3 for it to work out in the end. (I've been playing for a month or more of game time and I'm only 141, and I have a reasonable depth of knowledge about leveling spots)
Neither do I. Thats always been a problem though, people bragging and bragging and bragging about some of these spots and I have yet to find a single spot that lives up to the premise. I suppose if i had a buff bot 24/7 and had a recall spot, with all of my points dumped into an attack skill I could see some of these claims. Still seems ludicrous. Then again I can't play the same character for more than a week or two at the same time before rerollitis claims me again.
Yeah, I'll never reroll. I have my characters, they were all born in years and decades past, and I'll never let them go. I have a few of them still in old allegiances (my WOW allegiance, for example) that don't exist in AC, another sworn to a vassal that I... think I might know on AIM, maybe... Sigh.
Glad they have respecing in nowadays. Some of those old characters are... bleh.
I know, right? I had Run spec'd on my first character.
I mean, Run.
Run was a great skill to spec for pvp on Darktide. The other servers, not so much.
I specced jump... I also loved to suicide off of high structures when i found them. Like that ridiculously tall tower on the islands, and that one bridge I found in the middle of the country side.
So apparently the new shadow race extra skill is ... specialized deception? SPECIALIZED DECEPTION?! What silly goose hopped up on nitrous was thinking that was a cool idea?
I quit AC when I didn't get the highest quality ingot crafted for my Atlan, despite the alchemist having well over the needed skill (and who had never combined a non-best ingot before). That's just not the sort of bullshit I can tolerate in my games.

Turbine has been purchased by Warner Bros. Not sure what (if anything) this means for AC.
I really don't understand why Turbine decided to stop being independent. I thought they were doing just fine after the DDO overhaul.
Given that a recent news article on Slashdot was about them taking on advertisers that use malware and spyware on their website... probably not, no.
It's their own damned fault, really. When's the last time you saw a goddamned AC, LOTRO, or DDO ad? It's like they think advertising is beneath them or something.

I've seen ads for DDO here and there, which usually link back to the page with that embarrassing video of the girl trying to be all sultry, telling you how sexy and cool it is to play DDO.
Yeah, maybe it's better if they DON'T advertise. ;-)
AC is a god among games. Just thinking about AC, starting a new char on Dark Tide and accomplishing nothing. Running around, exploring, trying to find motes to get an atlan...
I literally get a warm, strange sensation. Its like in my arms and hands. Its very strange. Like, my memory has such a strong emotional tie to this game.
MMOs need less conveniant travel. AC was awesome because one could not just travel anywhere, it was a pain. I remember very little details about the game, but tipping folks cash money because they opened a portal to some ashy-landy bug ridden place was awesome. The world felt alive and the community felt real.
Sucks that nothing will ever be like it.
If Everquest didnt spawn 100 clones, and instead AC or UO did, would people miss EQ as much as they do these two games?
So I'm done with the Facility Hub quests, did all the side portals for Pincers and Tusker Teeth. What do I do now? They just kind of stop there and don't tell you where to go.

Best times I had in AC were the times where my friends and I just wandered the land to see what we could find.
I got to where I could run to most locations on the mainland just by memory, using landmarks to guide the way rather than coordinates. :P
I really wish they'd update AC, with an AC 1.5. I can see it right in my mind -- they'd break through to the mainland or something. Or just start AC over with an updated graphics engine and maybe redesigning the magic system. Sure, we'd know what the next 100 updates were going to bring, but who cares?

Unfortunately this is one of the great Plus/Minus things in AC. There is a ton of content but most of it has somewhat vague direction on how to get to it. The town bars sell rumor's that will point you in the right directions and there are people who will ask you to go do stuff for them, but theres no easy way to find out who these people are or if you can even do what there asking. You can hit up the wiki for some information if you want.
As far as updating ac goes, the first thing that comes to mind is bringing in some actual battle mechanics besides attack speed and height. Seriously being a warrior or even for that matter an archer is some seriously dull business. At least as a mage I felt like I was playing a mini game keeping my bars charged and using just enough power to wax the current critter before moving on. In a sense ACII had the right idea even if it was a terrible implementation of skills. Adding xp directly to new skills as you got the xp was a nifty idea, they just made it so terribly limiting. Seriously they wanted you to pay serious skill points for the ability to recall yet that would totally gimp you combat wise.
Yes it also needs a major graphics overhaul. But it also needs a lot of interface polishing. It always makes me cringe when I come back and play it after playing some more modern mmo's. Also needs a damn cookbook that can keep track of shit you make and allow you to 1 button press a recipie. I hate having to use decal for that.
Attack speed will directly affect what kind of swing you use if your weapon has 2 types of physical damage. A sword for instance will slash at anything over 1/3 speed. It will use a pierce attack at below 1/3 speed.
The heights affect what part of the creature you attack. This matters in a couple of ways but the obvious effect is that you can attack a lower armored section of a critter more consistently. Theres a bit of complication in that it also affects your defence bonus based on what height the critter is attacking. So if your missing a lot sometimes changing up what height your attacking at can make it so you hit more often.
Attack speed also influences how much stamina you use each attack. And how much damage you do with each attack. Its often advantageous to swing just before 100% of the bar as you get the majority of damage but use 1 less stamina per swing.
God I want to play again, I just promised the wife I wouldn't until I get a job again.
Het places you're all talking about for 140+ is egg orchard. There is always a fellow in there, and you can make between 200 mil, and 500 mil an hour, depending where you go inside.
That's the premium levling zone. The best loot area is the gear knight encampment out in the dires. But you need to be 220+ with great gear to survive.
Damn, now I want to play again. Anyone in solclaim?
So these buffbots I see hanging around town. How do I activate them to buff me?
I haven't played this game since 2001. Everything is so different. Seems like a lot of content has been rebalanced around being buffed to hell from the get-go.

Usually if you send one a /tell saying "help" or something like that, it'll give you a list of commands it accepts.
And yeah, that's pretty much correct. It is still possible to play without the buff bots, or a friend buffing the hell out of you...it's just not as fast.
In fact it's more of a challenge to survive, and becomes somewhat of another game. My axeman was, for a very long time, arcane-only with no magic whatsoever except whatever my equipment provided. Eventually I picked up item magic just for the convenience of being able to portal around.
It was tough but it was good to know I could do it. :P
Gear Knights huh, I remember fighting those in AC2.

All I can say is that with the announcement of LOTRO going to the free/cash shop model this year, I have the faintest glimmer of hope that AC could follow.
I would re-sub in a heartbeat.

Watching my brother the axe user killing bugs with a hammer had me so jealous, until I got ahold of a bandit hilt and a rapier.
I still have my hilted weapons on a wall in an apartment somewhere. They are always there when I go back .

If anyone wants to play with me, I'll be glad to help you re-learn the ropes and such.
I have a character on there that will take those, name is Keradal

I need your playtimes, my trial account is about to expire.
I play a fair bit, mostly afternoons/nights. Right now my play time is much more open then usual. For the next few weeks I should be on a lot.
I would re-sub in a heartbeat.
