The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
"V" is a re-imagining of the 1980's miniseries about the world's first encounter with an alien race in which the aliens call themselves The Visitors, and have a seemingly friendly agenda that may or may not be a cover for something more malevolent.
So apparently this is supposed to be good? I've never seen the original series, I dunno. Reviewers seem to like it. And I mean, it's got Inara. What else do you need?
I loved the original. I remember the pilot movie for it and everything. Loved how Rober Englund went from playing an utter wimp in that show to Freddy Kruger.
I imagine that this means a full on 80's revival will probably be in the works should this new series take off. We've already has a Knight Rider relaunch and now this. Miami Vice was remade as a movie.
I wonder if they'll do a proper "Automan" remake... or maybe "Street Hawk".
I saw the pilot (mostly, they needed some edits like removing the sign from the Catholic Church that said it was Anglican) at Comic Con. It definitely has potential but I wasn't ready to call it great simply from the pilot
Actual spoilers for the the pilot. For realz
Wash is a reptile too, but his hair looks pretty much the same. The Vs have infiltrated society and there's an ongoing resistance movement that gets its ass kicked often. Our spunky FBI agent discovers this early on. However, there's also a friendly [strike]Skrull[/strike] who is helping the good guys!

Seriously though I'd give this up for Kings staying on the air any day.
I mean, I've already seen V, I doubt the remake will be much different except it'll be way less cheesy and no BeastMaster.
Sure Kings was a modern retelling of the story of David or Solomon or whatever, but I've never read the bible so it was all new for me!

The one concern I have for the show is that given the original V, how closely are they going to adhere to that story and if it's even possible to do so and pace it properly if the series does get picked up?
I completely forgot this was already here until I heard an ad for it on the radio this morning. I will be checking it out for sure. I LOVED the original series, less now in retrospect, but for its time it was awesome. I don't think they will need to change much thematically, since on that level I think the original still does the job.
Original V spoilers meaning possible new V spoilers.
And will they still have a Holocaust survivor give the rebels their iconic symbol? Or will it be a Palestinian?
Good question.
It'd be hard to inject a person young enough for Holocaust, but Palestinian suffering pales in comparison.
It'd work, but you'd have to make him/her rather young at the time. Instead of a married man with a son at the time, you'd have to make him a child who witnessed the horrors.
Actually, you could still do that, just make him married young
I'm excited. And mad that Hulu won't have it until Saturday. Maybe ABC.com will be different.
Mna, what the fuck. I checked this weekend and they said they would have the first episode up the day after wed nov 4th. I went and checked again after I read your post and now it says Saturdays.
Curse you bastards!
Edit: Also does the title really need to have that spoiler in it. Not all of us have seen the old series.

No, I am not really communist. Yes, it is weird that I use this name.
They had the original V on all day yesterday on Sci-fi. My parents rewatched it and I watched some. I am excited but I know it is dead in the water already. They are showing us 4 episodes and then the rest some time in March. So another sci-fi show killed before it even gets a chance.

" We're canceling this show because it can't get ratings "
" is it because we show a few episodes then take 6 months off, loosing our audience? "
" Of course not, its because YOU WRITERS SUCK AT WRITING WRITE BETTER YOU ARE CANCELED "

I mean, neither have I, but the huge teaser pic on the front page of hulu.com is her with lizard eyes. It didn't seem like much of a stretch.
I just rewatched the original Mini Series. I had not seen it in about 20 years so I had forgotten parts of it.
It's dated sure but it was a lot more compelling than I remembered. The old holocaust survivor made me tear up more than once. The second miniseries and particularly the series were cheesy as hell but that first one was great.
Okay, I kind of hate to say it but: didn't the original blow in classic 80's style?
Or was it just because I was watching the series? I saw the same 2 dudes get kidnapped, then saved, then kidnapped, then saved for like 3 hours while I was painting the basement.
Edit: Oh, okay. That makes me feel better.

Reminds me of the lizard fuckers from StarFlight.

Good question.
Rwandan?
Iraqi? Afghani from the Northern Alliance?

But none of them have the V as a symbol.

Also, fantastic music

Walk like crab, talk like people!
The music was one of the best parts that also didn't wander into hokey corn ville. It's right up there with John Carpenter stuff.
