    Sizing up the situation, Lara realized that despite the wisdom of Heskan's words, there was no way she could strike the distant archers at the moment. The shambling figure that had been holding the hounds, however...
    Move to C8. Yay for cover...by the way, I'm assuming that these trees are like the "small trees" referenced in the cover section of PHB, meaning I can share their square.

    Lara mutters a curse, too low for the others to hear. As she speaks, a blue glow, like light shimmering through a deep pool, seems to percolate through the ground at the hound master's feet. His putrid flesh bubbles and hisses.
    Dire Radiance: 1d20+ 4(Dex) +1(Prime Shot) = 14, tie hits his Fort; Damage: 1d6+4 = 6

    Shelakri lightly touched a finger to the pendant around her throat, her hair and clothes moving in an unseen breeze as her mind reached out, plucking at the strings of the hounds and sapping their will to live.

    It only took a moment, and the two hounds closest to the group slumped to the ground, sapped of their unholy will to move despite death.

    The Hound Master looked disoriented, her psychic barrage forcing his attention away from the group as she took cover amidst her comrades.
    Standard: Dishearten vs Will, centered on I10 to hit Hound 2 & Hound 3: 1d20+4 23 1d20+4 14 Both are dead from 1d6+4 psychic damage.

    Minor: Distraction on the Hound Master, he grants Combat Advantage to the next creature that attacks him until the end of my next turn.

    Move: back to F16.

    Casting an irritated glance at Shell, Heskan charges to the front of the battle, sending a blast of frigid air crashing into the hound master. Tossing his dagger in the air, he snarls as he catches it, daring the undead to menace him.

    Gods, I missed this!

    Move to I10. DragonFrost vs Hound Master: 1d20+4 20 1d8+6 12 damage, no push. Minor: Throw dagger in air and snarl

    Despite the loss of two of their comrades, the rotting hounds rush headlong towards the two nearest targets. Both hounds manage to find flesh, ripping away small pieces of flesh and scales in their rotten teeth. Thankfully for Heskan, however, the small bite at his leg made him stumble, sending an arrow whistling mere inches over his head. Less thankfully for Jenn, considering the lack of a giant Dragonborn in the way let the second bolt fly directly into her shoulder armor, barely penetrating and making what must amount to a very annoying scratch.

    Mera rushes forward, approaching one of the larger skeletons. She kisses her wave-symbol of Melora, holding it up to the sky...and the heavens listen, a gentle blue wave of light - or water, no one's sure which - descending and crashing over the skeleton. Sparks break out in symphony inside, crackling and burning at the undead monster; they whip themselves out of the fall of water and towards Heskan. The dragonborn feels a thrill of light playing over his scales; then it is gone, the aftereffect a warm, enveloping glow.
    Move to L13.
    Standard: Sacred Flame vs Reflex: 1d20+4 16 1d6+3 4 Trooper 1 takes 4 damage, and Heskan gains 3 temp hp, unless he wants to save against something for some reason.

    Elie advances into the fray, keeping her shield up and peering over the top of it as she makes a beeline for the beast harrying Heskan. She swings her hammer in a sidearm motion, and a spectral vine erupts from the top of the weapon's head, thrashing and writhing as it lurches toward the hound, but its thorns fail to find purchase in its hide.
    Move: to J12
    Standard: THOOOORN STRIIIIIKE vs AC on Hound 4: 1d20+6 13 1d10+3 7 misssss noooooooo

    Next Up: Troopers 1 and 2

    The skeletons continue their assault with all three sword bearing undead picking a different target. The one holding the now empty leashes rushed towards Lara, one of them with a sword and board focusing in on Heskan, and the final undead lashing out at Mera. All three blows connect, although the Houndmaster gets more tree than Lara on his swing.

    Questions from the newbie:
    Question: If I move to say, K-14 and try to throw a dagger, would I be able to hit the Trooper or is Mera in the way?

    Second question: How big is a burst 2?

    A burst 2 is 3x3.

    The trooper might get cover from Mera at that angle; you could move to J-14 and dagger with impunity, though.

    My bad, a burst 2 is 5x5 - a burst 1 is 3x3. So, yup, the trooper would be in range.

    But so would Mera. So make sure that whatever power you intend on using doesn't have friendly fire.

    Jenn finally snapped back to her senses and unsheathed her sword, and noticed that one of her comrades was in trouble. "Don't worry Mera! I got your back!"

    She rushed forth and drew a dagger, with the intent of striking one of the skeletons. Her aim was true, as the dagger struck the skeleton square between its eye sockets. Pleased with her work, she pointed her sword at the skeleton and claimed, "You picked the wrong day to get in my way!"

    Tella stuck her head out of Jenn's backpack, looked at the skeleton, and hissed.

    Move to J-14. Throw a dagger at Skeletal Trooper 1. Ranged Attack Roll VS AC: 1d20+4= 17. Hit! Damage Roll: 1d4+1= 5. Maximum damage! As a minor action, cast Shielding Aegis on Skeletal Trooper 1.

    How's that for getting aggro off the cleric?

    EDIT: Also- had no idea how to describe Shielding Aegis as an action in-character. Good?

    Lara glowered at the hound's keeper, an orange glow like magma beginning to bubble behind her pupils. "You picked the wrong one to come after; Say hello to the depths, fool!" she hissed...
    Minor Action: Warlock's Curse on the Hound Master

    She rolled back over her right shoulder, gaining distance on her foe, and came up with murder in her eyes.
    Move Action: Shift to C7

    Lara began to call the judgement of the depths down on the hound master, but as blue light washed over him, he was unaffected. Lara swore as she girded herself for her next attack. She shouted to her comrades "Could use a bit of help over here!"
    Standard: Dire Radiance 1d20+4 = 9 missing Fort

    Shelakri continued her mental assault on the Hound Master and his pet, but her earlier assault had given it warning, and it resisted her mental assault with ease. Beads of sweat dotted her forehead.
    "Powerful foes indeed!"

    Hearing the shout, Heskan responds.

    "On it, Lara!" he calls, stepping back and unleashing his dragonbreath. The hound falls, its rotting corpse crackling, but the trooper scrambles out of the way. Heskan uses the interval to launch a blast of frigid air at the hound menacing Lara, felling it.
    Pretty sure my HP should be 17 with no THP... 5 damage from a gravebite, 7 from a longsword, reduced by 3 is 9.

    Move: Shift to H11
    Minor: Dragon breath vs. Hound, Trooper -: 2#1d20+5 18 11 1d6+2 4 - hound dies, trooper dodges
    Standard: Dragonfrost on Hound 1: 1d20+4 17 1d8+6 8 - hound dies

    Two arrows launch up into the air as two hounds fall downwards into the ground. The older dragonborn manages to twist out of the way of the bolt, but the young half-elf isn't so lucky. The bolt manages to find a kink in her armor and sink a good ways into her side. You don't think it hit anything vital, but another few hits like that would probably be a bad thing.

    Mera turns and runs from the skeleton, cutting around it and then between it and its partner. She raises her holy symbol to the skies again, murmuring quietly, the low wave that shrouds both skeletons in a searing blue glow.
    Move: Move to J11 by way of K14.
    Standard: Turn Undead vs Will: 1d20+4 13 1d10+3 5 1d20+4 23 1d10+3 8 Hit on Troop 1 for 13 damage, miss on Troop 2.

    "Hey, git away from her!" Elie shouts as she closes in on the offending skeleton, ramming her weight against it shoulder-first and following up with a side-armed swing of her hammer. The blow connects with a loud "crack", snapping a rib clean of its ribcage, and Elie hops backward to draw it along with her. The dust around her feet swirls as she lands, ready to soak up the troopers' blows.
    Move: Step into K11
    Standard: Footwork Lure vs AC on Troop 1: 1d20+6 19 1d10+3 10 Shift into J10, pull Troop 1 into K11
    Free: Mark Troop 1 and Troop 2
