Torchlight - Borrowed heavily from Fate

I'm not sure if its the same company, same programmer, or what, but a friend of mine introduced me to a fun little dungeon crawler called Fate very many months ago. I was a little taken aback when I read in today's news about the pet system for Torchlight. Everything stated about your pet, down to changing by eating fish, and the button to send them back to sell, is ripped directly from Fate. While I haven't had the time to research into it, since I'm at work, I was wondering if anyone knows if this is indeed by the same group of people. I doubt its from the same company, which in Fate's case was Wildgames, maybe the same programmers are on the job. Anyone have any feedback?

    Welcome to the forum.

Torchlight is made by the Fate people.

We already have a Torchlight thread.

If you can post here, you could look on Wikipedia.
Development of the game is led by Travis Baldree, designer of Fate, and Max Schaefer and Erich Schaefer, co-designers of Diablo and Diablo II, joined by the team that developed Mythos.
