Sup all,

So 2 weeks ago, I ordered the digital student copy of Windows 7 64 bit, so that I could actually use all of the memory in my computer. Then I realized that this was an upgrade, and ordered the "backup" disk. The problem is, it says it shipped early last week, but I still have not received the DVD. Does anybody know how long it takes or what method it ships by?

Thanks!

Just so you know you can use the Upgrade disc to install windows fresh, you just have to a key less full install, and then boot back to the disc and do an upgrade. The second install would go uber fast and then your done.

Yeah, wish I could. When I go to the check order/invoice pages, I never get an actual tracking URL, all I have is the one that says that they processed my order and it shipped on Oct. 27th. Now, I don't know what takes this long, and I checked my mail this morning.

UPS ground can take as long as 9 days. With the weekend, it's been "shipped" for 7 now.

Makes me feel slightly better then. I did email customer service, since I can't actually track it myself and asked them why not. Thanks all!

I ordered mine on Tuesday and got my disc today - guess I was just lucky.

Also I live in London so, y'know, mainstream business city and all probably helps.

If they're still using Digital River for their fulfillment, my experience is that you will never recieve the disc, and if you complain, they'll tell you that you must have mistaken it for junk mail and thrown it out.

    But I'm not bitter.

A bit of a hijack: I was going to order this, but I need the full version instead of an upgrade. Where can you get this 'Backup Disk' to do a fresh install?

I did a fresh install and reformatted my computer last night with my "backup disc" last night (god windows 7 is so fucking sweet). You just check the box that says you'd like a backup disc/hardcopy of the software as well when purchasing windows 7 online. For my student deal I paid 30 pounds for 64-bit windows professional and then an additional 9 pounds to have to dvd mailed to me (bit of a rip-off but it arrived in two days and everythings worked real smoothly so I'm not complaining..)
