#network [on] - use router as access point

I have read through some online guides but I'm having trouble configuring this thing to do what I want.

Situation: AT&T DSL with 2Wire wireless router/modem combo - I want to hook up my D-Link DIR-655 to ONLY function as a wireless access point. It's going to be connected to the DSL modem/router via ethernet on another side of the house.

I've already disabled DHCP on the Dlink and I can connect to both networks, but the Dlink one will not hand off the routing settings from the 2wire. I really really want to use the routing on the dlink, but my parents have it set up a certain way and I'm stuck doing this.

TLDR: How I can get the Dlink to carry internet signal from the existing dsl modem/routerand re-broadcast it so I can get signal in my dreary part of the house?

What do you mean "will not pass off the routing signals"

I actually use the exact same setup if I am understanding you right

    Internet - 2wire -Linksys wireless router - PC's/xbox/ds etc

What exactly is not working ?

Can you ping the Dlink from your pc? Can you ping non resolved internet addresses from the pc (4.2.2.1 is a good one to try)

Also make sure your 2wire is set to do authentication/pppoe on the modem. Otherwise it is expecting a PC to provide the username/password. You need to connect to the router, the default ip is 192.168.1.254 IIRC, to do this.
