All he is looking to do is some web browsing, run itunes, and watch some movies. My only concern is that the Processor reviews suggest that multi-tasking can be very slow.
Do you think he will have any issues running say itunes and browsing the web at the same time?
Well first we need to establish some basics. That isn't what most folks would call a 'notebook' (that term actually seems a bit dead) but a 'netbook'. Anything running an Intel Atom processor (such as the N280 sported by that particular Toshiba model) is a netbook. These are designed for exactly what they're called: light internet browsing, some music/movie viewing. Reviewers claiming that multi-tasking is slow aren't lying; running a bunch of browser tabs along with a movie is going to be noticeably sluggish.
That being said, I've seen some Joe Users say that if all they're doing is watching a movie/TV show this class of notebook makes it through fine. In my experience something as simple as Hulu is a bit too taxing on my netbook. The fan cranks into hyperdrive and I end up with some jerky video.
Unfortunately I don't know anything about the current laptop market aside from netbooks. I'm an Apple guy for everything else.
