    I worked many midnight launches at gamestop, including the one for the xbox 360 itself

    Really with things like Steam I just have it pre-loaded to my hard drive and unlocked at midnight.

    I have no problem staying up till midnight inside my own house.

    I was in line for the midnight launch for the PS3. Some drunk bloke walked past and asked somebody "what're you waiting for?" to which someone replied "YOUR MUM, MATE!" he looked angry but was too drunk to figure out who said it so he walked off. Thrilling stuff.

    I went to a midnight release for Guitar Hero 3 when I was in college.

    Good lord did it smell unshowered in there.

    There was also a kid who for some reason had brought a large Companion Cube model with him and got mad and shouty when told he had to wait outside (where the end of the line was).

    Seriously. Actually with steam pre-orders I've sometimes forgotten that I actually purchased the game three weeks ago or the exact day it launches, and then steam pops up a little message telling me that a new game is now on my computer and I'm pleasantly surprised. Thanks, Steam! Good job!

    does anyone "camp out" for games anymore?

    you preorder it and then show up at 11:57 or so and buy it three minutes later

    I have done a few midnight releases. I did Wrath of the lich king, Smash Brothers Brawl, and the Wii release. I think I did a few others but I can't remember at the moment.

    The one and only time I went to a midnight thingie was for the last Harry potter book. Then I spent like an hour in my car reading the first few chapters and pretty much didn't sleep that night from excitement. I have no regrets

    I really like to do midnight pre-showings of movie releases. I like the packed theaters, and everyone is all really excited.

    I also went to several Harry Potter midnight dealies.

    Never gone to a midnight launch for a video game

    I have gone to Ralph's at midnight to buy a Harry Potter book
    And went super early in the morning to get a Wii Fit
    And those were both for my wife.
