Can you tell me how to get to [Sesame Street Appreciation Station]
Hey so 40 years ago something pretty neat happened. A bunch of hippies laid off the LSD for twenty minutes or so and developed a thoroughly excellent television series for children. There were puppet/marionette dealies that totally blew the minds of the target audience because they were walking around and interacting with real people! Eventually there were some nifty celebrity cameos like this one:
Basically this show taught the last two generations how to count and spell and speak a little bit of Spanish or French, depending on if you watched the US or Canadian version.
Here are some songs to get stuck in your head for the rest of the day
At the Orlando Historical Society they had a Jim Henson exhibit and it was aaaawesome. They had Statler and Waldorf's balcony, and several of Henson's first muppets, from when he was doing commercials for a coffee company, and some really awesome interviews and stuff. It's a traveling exhibit, so if it comes nearby I highly recommend checking it out.
Oh and there was a weird as hell experimental student film he made that was really weird.

Sesame Street remains one of the few worthwhile programs on television.

And when Luis and maria got married

The hippies then went back on acid and made Yo Gabba Gabba, which is fucking awesome to watch with your kid. Although Sesame Street is good too, I just can't stand Elmo.
the whole 8:51 of it is on youtube and i'm trying to watch it but it's loading so friggin' slowly.
I also liked the muppet show and remember liking fraggle rock but I suspect I wouldn't still enjoy fraggle rock. The Muppets Tonight was kind of a weak knockoff of the Muppet Show.
Fuck you, American capitalist pig dog. In my childhood there was a Czechoslovakian mole that got into adventures and the alphabet was learned in school.
I demand a segregation of education and entertainment!

In related news, I saw Avenue Q for the first time yesterday. I've been seeing puppets everywhere recently, on campus, on google, on Jimmy Fallon, on my Rocketbooms.
It's too much. I feel like it's a sign from God for me to get into puppetting.

Avenue Q is so great.
Also, yeah, between Jeff Dunham getting a TV show and that ventriloquist winning America's Got Talent and the Muppets trying to make a comeback via Youtube and that one movie in the works I am hoping puppetry is becoming a thing again.

Ha. Time Piece.
I've seen clips from it but never the whole 9 minutes.
Also "the dog" mentioned above is probably Barkley.
I love Sesame Street.
