Using old xbox headset as PC headset

So I want to use my old OXBOX headset (the Halo 2 edition, that cost me $90 and that I stupidly bought) as a headset for PC gaming and I was wondering if anyone knew off hand if it could easily be done.

This headset to be precise:

My only idea is to use a set of these:

However I have no idea if this will work. I guess my question is, does anyone know if this plan will work? I would really like to put my overpriced headset to work :)

Thanks for any input

Another way around it would be to get a USB Xbox-PC controller that has a headphone port for it. A friend of mine broke his PC headset so he connected his Xbox Guitar Hero controller and connected the Xbox headset to the guitar and was able to chat through that, albeit with some static.

That would be the simple fix, unfortunately my only xbox 360 headset is a wireless one.
