Dragon Ball: Raging Blast, power level over 9000?!
So another DBZ game. Being not too familiar with the games so far, but liked the show years ago I decided to try out the demo. Pretty fun, but had some camera issues. Anybody get this and what do you think? Is the demo a trick? There is an early IGN review out with a bad rating and I've noticed some of the issues addressed in there, but what do you DBZ fans think?
I didn't really notice any problems with the camera in the Demo. But I've bought all of the DBZ fighters released in America, so maybe I'm just used to it.
This does seem to be the version all of the DBZ fans have been waiting for too; I can fly when I damn well want to! And it seems like they didn't go generic on the super moves.
Played the demo, and eh, it was okay I guess. I'm still not a big fan of the combat. At least they moved a little bit away from the tap tap tap combos to do kamehamehas.
Still, nothing beats the Legends game for the ps1/saturn for best reenactment of the show.
i still need to play the demo, but it looks like it has more in common with the tenkaichi games? i never could really get the hang of those so it scares me.
I've noticed a lot of the issues that the IGN review mentioned, except the attack delay. I thought the attacks were pretty responsive (though there are just too many controls for a controller unfortunately...or at least it's all mapped weird).
I was playing a borrowed copy, probably won't buy this until it gets dirt cheap or we get some used copies in. I was a bit upset with how the story telling was done. I like that some stuff is more accessible than it was in DBZ BT3 and that it's on the new systems ( I had T3 for the wii...ugh, no multiplayer to speak of and controls were ridiculous), but the story telling falls apart. I preferred the story events that could occur and change how the battle was going instead of this weird "Perfect Action" stuff.
One of the appeals of DBZ fighting games over others was that they would have decent story telling...but this game takes that away.
Also it seems a LOT harder than Tenkaichi. I had to play most of the Saiyan saga battles on Easy to win...wah? Even then I lost some on easy.
BT3 has fine multiplayer as long as it's local. The online does sort of blow. They did a better job with the waggle controls in BT2 as well, but BT3 plays fine with the CC or GCN controller.
my issues with the camera are when the enemy takes flight or when you are flying and they are below you. Instead of angling the view up to see them the camera goes into anal probe mode and spazzes out from there never giving you any clue where your opponent is. Easily dealt with by just running away to distance the view or soaring straight up to fight. Just a bit annoying.
The camera was really spastic when I played the demo.
The biggest problem is that this is basically Tenkiachi in HD. And there's just so much you can do with the graphics, since the PS2/Wii versions looks really nice as they were.
I have it and I have been enjoying it so far. So far my only two real complaints are that the camera can be wonky and in the story mode my opponent sometimes regains health during a cutscene (where you do not).
The online has been flawless though for PS3.

So Budokai Tenkaichi in HD? Sweet. I had a lot of fun playing those games with friends on the couch. I just hope this one isn't missing many character or maps compared to the previous BT games.
