Here's a basic summary of the situation soon after it happened:
I interviewed for a new job last Thursday at a company called T(11/9/06), was offered the job and accepted the offer on Friday. This was all through a job placement company called L. I was told to give my two weeks notice this Monday(11/13/06), which I did. I gave my letter of resignation at 1:40 to which my boss began to rant and rave about the company I was moving to. She called them criminals, and many other unnecessary things. I was then sent home for the remainder of the work day.
At 6:00 I get in contact with L and they notify me that T was rescinding my job offer and would not give a reason why. We had discussed prior to and during the interview that nothing would be said to my current boss about T because we were both aware that my boss would try to cause trouble for both of us. My coworker and I were advised by numerous people to keep quiet about which company we were moving to because of the potential for disaster with our current boss.
Well my boss found out where I was going because one of my coworkers had told her the week before that she was moving to T. The instant I was told that my job offer was rescinded I knew it was because of my current boss. She has a huge history with T and hates them with a passion.
The next day my coworker who is moving to T called L and they told her that the reason my job offer was rescinded was because someone at my current job called someone at T and caused some sort of problem, causing my job offer to be rescinded. So I have tried to get in contact with T to speak with someone, but they refuse to speak with me and will not give me any reason for rescinding my job offer.
I went in to my current workplace on Wednesday and talked with our administrators and they told me I couldn't prove anything, or even that someone called from my current company.
So I quit my current job for a new job and the new job withdrew its offer right after I quit my old job, and won't tell me a reason why. And I'm 99% certain why. No one will give me any answers and I would like to know how I can pursue some answers and seek some sort of punishment(?) for either employer for this completely unprofessional, and from what I've been told, illegal treatment.
I've been bounced from law firm to law firm trying to find someone who would take my case. I spoke with a judge who's a friend of the family and he said to definitely seek out a lawyer as I would win easily. This all occurred in Maryland btw. The first firm had a conflict of interest, so I went to another, and they said they couldn't take my case, but referred me to a lawyer that they said could. There's been no progress with this new lawyer at all. I'm guessing my main issue is that I don't have any proof, just word of mouth from L, who are apparently no longer speaking to me also. Any advice?

Recovering damages against the company that retracted the job offer relies on a principal known as "promissory estoppel". There's a decent definition here.
This applies because you accepted a job offer (the promise), and were reliant on it because you quit your other job to begin work there.
The proof you need for this is that the job offer was made, the job offer was accepted, and that you quit your current job to start the new one. I don't believe you need proof of why the offer was rescinded.
However, there's a problem. If it was stated in the offer of the new job that it was an offer for "at-will" employment, you may not be able to successfully bring suit. This seems to be dependent on state courts, and I couldn't find anything for Maryland, so that would be something for your lawyer to know.
As for bringing suit against your current employer because they caused the new job offer to be rescinded, that would be extremely difficult to prove. I don't have any good advice for you on this front.
Good luck.
However, you really need to talk to a lawyer. If the one you're currently talking to is dragging his feet, find another one.
