Who is he? Rick Castle.
Every writer needs inspiration and he's found his. Detective Kate Beckett.
Thanks to his friendship with the Mayor, he gets to be on her case.
Together, they catch killers.
If you're not watching this, you really should be. Why? Because it's way, way better than your average quirky cop show. Almost everything about the show says it should be terribly cliched and hackneyed. But it works, somehow. Nathan is great as the cocky, smartass writer and the chemistry he has with Detective Beckett is fantastic. They play off each other so well.
The secondary characters, like his mom and the other cops, are very strong and well played.
Plus, he's an awesome dad.

It was exactly as cliched and hackneyed as I thought it would be, which is a lot
Still though, glad it got another season, if only so Nathan Fillion doesn't have to beg for money on the street

If, however, you are looking for good chemistry and dialogue in a cop show that is actually surprisingly light-hearted and has some decent cornball appeal then this is your show.
Oh, and Nathon Fillion.
And in that Firefly costume episode (their Halloween one) there were references to Firefly (the costume and one more, well hidden one), Underworld, Clive Barker, Frank Miller/The Spirit, and some others I'm forgetting.
being on at 10 PM on a Monday means it's on too late for me to watch it because of how early I have to get up for work
Sometimes I just want to sit down and watch something that's charming, lighthearted and entertaining, and this has all of that with the added bonus of Nathan Fillion.
If you like the chemistry from Bones but find the rest of the show annoying, Castle is pretty much perfect.
Does anyone know if this is going to be a full season this time or are they sticking with the shorter season?
I'd say worse, but still very good.

It was yet another procedural cop show, but it had a much heavier focus on laughs, and a fantastic ensemble.

Also, I am totally going to start watching Castle now. I actually know a really hot girl who loved Firefly/Serenity and texts me whenever it's on. This seems like a good excuse to hang out with her.
Castle is pretty dang awesome and yeah, it's definitely taken the place of bones in my cop show with sexual tension genre. Love all the characters in it, especially castle's family. It is nice to see a father-daughter tv relationship that isn't awkward or cliche and geniunely sweet. Definitely worth watching. The cases may get kinda repetetive, but the banter is so fun and witty.

She's obnoxious and able to do literally anything with her stupid impossible computer programs she invented (by using her drawing skills??) and she's not very attractive at all, really. All these things from day 1.

That was the stupidest thing I've ever seen on TV, and I'm not surprised it came from Angela. Bones was way more fun when it didn't get quite so mired in the "will they won't they" stuff. I like that they have chemistry, if they hook up that's fine, now they're just dragging the show down.
This is why I go to Castle for my fun crime solving with chemistry fix.

Also, annoyed that Bones gave Angela the money. Stupid. Didn't even name the pig Jasper.
The only good thing about that episode was reading about how David Boreanaz has a phobia of chickens and apparently refused to be in any scenes with a live chicken.

Castle dressing like Mal in the beginning of the halloween episode made me so happy, too
Angela is terrible
the magical computer thing was dumb, of course, but otherwise she seemed a tolerable, reasonable character
also I hope this season has Billy Gibbons in it
(and I should watch Castle, I don't mind cliched stuff as long as it's entertaining)
