I am running Windows 7 on a HP laptop with a native resolution of 1280x800. I had been using that for a while, but about an hour ago, I left the room, leaving the computer on, and when I came back a few minutes later, the screen resolution was 800x600. I immediately went to the display settings in the control panel, and when I attempted to change back to my original settings, I was only given options for 800x600 and 1024x768. The way I see it, there are two possibilities: one, the computer did this to itself, or two, someone else (I live in a dormitory) came in while I was out and screwed around with it. On one hand, the first option seems more likely because I was gone for all of two minutes, and the door was closed (normally it is locked when I leave), but on the other hand, it also seems like this sort of change isn't the kind that occurs spontaneously. Either way, I am a computer idiot and I have no idea how to fix this sort of thing.
Please help me figure this out. If it turns out that it must have been some jerk, then I may need to investigate further. Install some security cameras or something.
