I drew a few naked ladies in life drawing class. These range from 10-35 minutes except for the one from a photo. I would love any feedback whatsoever, even if it is just "hello agentflit!".
really liking the dark, charcoal more finished tonal rendering that's... er... 3rd from the bottom if you count the second spoiler, great expression! really great mood too
god: Oh I have an assload of shorter ones, from 5 seconds to 5 minutes. I guess I could post a few, I figured my longer ones were stronger (now that I think of it, them being bad is a good reason to post some). What exactly do you mean by extended gesture? I found this but I still don't get what it is.
mensch: You got me on the hands, I need to check this out and just fill my notebook with hands. My drapery rendering kind of sucks too.
beav: Glad you like it even though with the glasses' shadow it looks like I gave her a manjaw. I did the whole thing in one 15 hour marathon session.

Yeah, Extended Gestures is something covered in that Nicholaides book. It's an exercise that incorporates box forms, Hale egg studies, gestures and a bit of line contour to boot.
The point of the exercise is to get the masses to flow into one another so it feels like this one solid structure, instead of separate pieces like a lot of artists seem to do. Honestly it's a concept that I would have never grasped if I didn't work the hell out of box forms and hale egg studies, but it's so helpful it's not even funny.
Just read that section of the book and see if you understand it. I'm more of a show-not-tell kind of guy, but I don't have access to any of my classwork at the moment so I can't even do that!
Also it's great that you get shorter poses! You have got to do some quick contour studies now; they're great on isolating what's important in the figure and help establish line quality.
wow are you guys seriously going to come into a dudes thread and be like "LOL IM NOT ATTRACTED TO THAT SIZE/COLOUR/SHAPE OF MODEL THEREFORE IT IS GROSS!" ? idiots.
the charcoal one is fantastic, dude.
though i have to admit, i love the first one with the straight lines. did you have to use a ruler? was it an exercise?
Thanks all! I'm not in class to get boners, but that said, all of these models look ok by me?
t mully: Thanks, I had shown up to class an hour late and just grabbed my pen and drew some angles in a rush. No ruler, just big paper. These are all experiments, no specific exercise - I just kind of improvised. Sometimes I discover styles I like and revisit them.
Oh also it's not charcoal it's conte. If it were charcoal you'd see fingerprints and smudges all over.
i think these are great. but eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww grossss gross grooooooooooooossss! fatty boobs ewwwwwww! great effects and .... fat rolls.

i am very sorry for how i have acted and did not wish to offend anyone. but others did it, so i thought if i did, then i would be cool. i am sorry to have acted in such a manner. noone should react the way i did, and i am sorry. is that okay?

yeah i saw that others did it, i wasn't a mod then though. i'm not going back and infracting old posts.
if people do it from here on in, they're facing the consequences.

you seem to be avoiding hands, though, which is a big no-no
25 to 30 minutes is the perfect window to rock these out.
Also does your class do shorter poses? Some quick, six/seven minute poses would be great for some kickin' quick contours.

Are you spying on me Flit? Hrm?
I'm talking 2007-2009 here. You posted some stuff earlier this year at the gangbunch right?
You're right though I am basing my idea of how you draw on how you talk about drawing
Always a surprised when you're hanging out with the Godfather!
