What is the best (non-Go) PSP to get?

There are three versions out there now, original, 2000, and 3000.

Which one do I want? I see the differences in the wiki entry but I remember there being some complaints about one of the redesigns.

Go is not an option, I want my UMDs.

Some people complain about the screen on the 3000 due to ghosting issues. The 2000 is generally accepted as the best. Also, it's easy to put custom firmware on. Which you should ABSOLUTELY do if you buy a PSP.

I went with the cheapest one. Used 1k.

    I haven't had a problem with my Dissidia 3000.

I think there's a bit of confusion here. Ghosting is NOT a problem with 3k. That's a problem with 1k.

I just remember reading about a bunch of people complaining about something with the 3k's screen. Maybe interlacing or some other graphical whateverwhosit. Not a dealbreaker, I'm sure, but if you're asking the pros and cons of each iteration, I'd think that'd come up.

2000 for CFW. 3000 for OFW.

I vote for the 2000, as I use it and have no complaints at all.

CFW is sex. Well, its at least a handjob.

According to the PSP wiki, while the 2000 doesn't have interlacing, it seems the 3000's screen is better in all other categories (color range, contast, response time, outdoor visibility). I guess its just a matter or what would bug you more.

Of course, as others have stated, if you have any interest in custom firmware, get a 2000.

I guess there's no reason to go with a 1000 unless you prefer a bulkier system, or just want the cheapest model possible.

It really needs to be restated, if you don't get CFW, you are dumb. No bones about it. Don't even bother trying to argue.

No. CFW is far better than a handjob. It's at least a threesome.

Correct me if I'm wrong but not all 2k is able to run cfw.

Also I'm not 100% on this but far as I'm aware, there is no legal way to play the latest legit games on psp running CFW.

I recon you shouldn't let cfw be your buying decision if you want to play some games.

All 2000's and some 3000's can run CFW. With the latest version of the CFW, you can run the latest games.

Latest CFW can run the latest games, no problem.

As for the "Can my PSP run CFW?" question, refer to this handy flowchart:
