Wireless Keyboard and Mouse

Hi guys, quick question. I'm hooking my gaming laptop up to our projection TV system via HDMI so that I can game HD-style on the big screen (w/o a 360 or a PS3). Because the big black control box is at the front of the room and I'd like to sit at a reasonable distance from the screen, I need to invest in a wireless keyboard and mouse. I'm unfamiliar with such things, so I wanted to ask: Should I expect any input lag that would make gaming difficult/impossible? Do I need to shell out for an expensive keyboard and/or mouse, or will any one do? Any recommendations?

I just want to make sure that I don't get home from, say, Staples (where I know they sell a few varieties), plug everything in, and say, "Oh. This doesn't really work that well/isn't responsive/sucks. I should have gotten a different brand/gotten the next highest-priced thing/gotten X." Steer me in the right direction!

Input lag should not be an issue unless you get radio frequency interference from a microwave or 2.4Ghz phone. Pretty much any $30-50 cordless desktop set will work. If you plan on going cordless permanently, I would suggest getting a 'real' rechargable mouse like a Logitech G7 or MX Revolution. If you are just using it for the holidays or basic browsing, the basic cordless mouse will be fine.

Okay, so I went to Staples today and picked up a basic Microsoft keyboard+mouse combo for $50. I took it home and hooked the laptop up to the Yamaha control box... And it looks great. It's clear and quick, but I noticed that there's some serious (like half a second) input lag. It's not the kb+mouse, because there's no input lag to my PC when I use them, but going from the laptop to the big projector screen, it picks up that half-second. It's not the biggest deal in the world, but for Multiplayer, that extra bit is a real pain.

Is there any way to reduce the input lag, or is that just the nature of the projector? It never has any problems with HD movies or TV, so I'm surprised that there's a delay coming from my comp. It's probably because of the time to process the output or whatevah, but is there any way to fix it?

I'm using an Epson 6500UB, by the way. Any help is appreciated!

You're probably stuck with the lag unless the projector has a Game mode or some other way to turn off the heavy image processing.

Hm. I fiddled with it a bit (not really changing much), then made it so my comp only outputs to the projector (instead of monitor + projector simultaneously) and I feel that it has improved. Maybe? I'll just go with this for now.

However... In case the lag persists... Is it actually from my comp processing the output, or is it the unit itself? What I mean is... If I buy a 360 or a PS3 for Christmas, will I notice some lag with those? That'd be a real deal-breaker for me. The Wii doesn't seem to have any delay at all, but it isn't really HD.
