Name that Shakespearean Parody

I went to the Renaissance Festival a few weeks ago, and saw these guys perform a "fakespeare" play.

I can't figure out which play they were parodying though. I remember there was a princess Areola, whose father had died, and the evil adviser was scheming to marry her and take over the kingdom. There was also a fool, a magic sword, a bear, and much traipsing through the forest. Is this based on an actual play? Maybe it's not Shakespeare? Or maybe it's quite a few plays melded together.

Here's their blurb
A maiden Princess on the run! A Pirate King! Cross-dressing! Mistaken identities, odd songs, improvised poetry & various beasts make this a story a Fakespearean Melting Pot! It's time for A Little Death - With a Happy Ending for Everyone!

Oh and a picture reminds me: the fool gets turned into a monkey somehow.

Renaissance performers usually write all of their own material and just go fucking nuts with everything. Mud shows are great for this. It sounds like they just took cliches from everywhere and made a pageant show out of it. However, if you are interested in some insane Shakespeare parodies, check out http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Works-William-Shakespeare-Abridged/dp/1557832714/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1259207935&sr=8-2

Possibly a loose parody of A Midsummer Night's Dream? Bottom gets turned into an ass (get it, that Shakespeare was so profound!) And everyone gets lost in the woods.

Yeah, it definitely sounds like an amalgam of Shakespeare. I'm seeing bits of Hamlet (dead father, evil other dude trying to steal the throne via marriage), Midsummer Night's Dream (traipsing through the forest), and A Winter's Tale (a bear), for example.

That's probably right. Their other stuff is all takeoffs of specific classical or Shakespeare stuff. This is probably bits and pieces they wanted to use from other plays. The whole show is an excuse to make filthy jokes, they're pretty funny guys.

Thats kind of the whole point of Renne Faires. Have you never bought a pickle at one before?

Well, a lot of the shows are sort of family friendly. This one is very not.

Their litmus test joke was "What Did Cinderella say when she got to the ball?"

    "Augaguagugug"

Second the mention of "Complete Works." My favorite stage experience ever.
