Reheating Crab Legs

So, we just had some delicious Thanksgiving crab legs.

However, there are many left over.

Is it safe to refrigerate and reheat crab legs?

If I were to do so, what's the best way to reheat them?

As long as they haven't been sitting out for hours on end, refrigerate and enjoy tomorrow.

Wrap them in moist paper towel, wrap that in cling wrap, poke a couple holes in the cling warp. Microwave for 2 minutes. Unwrap being careful not to burn your self on the steam.

    Bam

I will note for the record that crab meat is actually pretty decent when cold if you get the right dip.

The best way is to cannibalize the meat into some sort of stew/soup. It doesn't microwave as well at all al a carte.

I have no other advice, I've eaten a gajillion boiled crabs and we always turn the leftover into a stew of some sort.

What kind of crab? If it is King, it will likely hold up better. Snow crab is going to be a bit rougher. I would advise doing as the above suggested and just separating the meat and using it cold in a dip.

i'd go cold, but i wouldn't waste the flavour with a dip. a squeeze of lemon or lime is all it'll need - if that

then again i'm making the suggestion from a summer perspective

The best dip is one part mayonnaise, one part ketchup, cayenne pepper to taste.

    Fuck. Yeah.

that's a pretty safe seafood sauce - you can tweak it how you like, as long as the ketchup / mayo base remains. i like to do it with cracked pepper, a sprinkle of mustard powder or hot english mustard, and a healthy squeeze of lemon

but then to me seafood without lemon is like pizza without cheese

edit: i use that for big cooked prawns, but crab meat is generally sweet enough that you don't need it

    This is very true.

But a huge bowl of fat, salt and spice never killed anyone.

    Well.

    Maybe it did.

Rather than microwaving it, steam it.

If you don't have a steam insert, just take aluminum foil and make a bowl shape to cover the top of a pot (with some holes poked in it). In, say, a three-quart pan, boil about an inch or two of water with the crab in your foil basket and a lid covering it. Should get warm enough in a couple minutes (depending on how much).

A little extra work, but it wont get as rubbery as it does in the microwave.
